Lovely sweet elderly couple running this small humble cafe. It's not fancy. Very down to earth environment. Deco is a bit distasteful. Awful colors and pictures. Very jarring. They should get rid of the awful paintings. Not many tables as this is a small place. They do take aways. Order and pay at counter and food is cooked for you.... More

We came across this restaurant on Saturday night when looking for something casual in our area. Five of us ordered and everyone was really happy with their choices. Not the flashy-iest looking restaurant but great food at very reasonable prices.

My sister and I dine here regularly. The food is consistently delicious and you will not find friendlier service anywhere! Absolutely beautiful :)

Visited on a weekday for dinner and the place was empty. Ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken, portion was humongous and thus value-for-money. The boss also said their pad thai was slightly more on the sour side, I thought it tasted okay overall.

Excellent place to grab lunch or dinner. Food is cheap, quick and tasty. Regularly visit for lunch. Green curry is awesome, as well as a garlic pork.

Thai Deli is the best thai food I've ever had (including in thailand!) The pad thai is packed with flavour and lots of tamarind, and the curries have some good kick. Really good about accommodating vegan/vegetarian offering to leave out fish/oyster sauce in need. This husband and wife work super hard and always have a smile on their faces; they... More

A welcoming husband and wife team offering a broad smiles and menu. While it may not rate and the top end of fine Thai cuisine it is certainly a good stop for value and a full belly. A small basic restaurant area if you want to eat onsite.

Thai Deli is a fabulous find! Just on Clarendon Street, South Melbourne, they offer great value Thai food in a no frills environment. Everything is freshly prepared and the business is run by the most delightful couple.

Not the best i have had in Melbourne but they are nice people and food is fast. Went there with friends for lunch and had a stirfry chicken with rice that i would rate as average at best. Lots of people in there but I am a connoisseur of Thai food and it really has to be great for me... More

Thai Deli is a small takeaway that has a big following amongst South Melbourne workers. They make a fantastic sticky rice noodle which is the best i've ever had. Most meals are under $10 and they're big meals. Great value, great food and you can eat in too.

Staying in South Melbourne

Neighbourhood Profile
South Melbourne
South Melbourne hosts the city’s oldest continuous market, founded in 1867. Rows of neatly arranged fruit, vegetables and flowers splash yellows, greens and reds along the entire perimeter, where the whole neighbourhood gathers for Saturday feasts. Inside the hall, shoppers hover over the mouth-watering displays of delicatessens and specialty food shops. Further in, a bazaar full of giftware, clothing, and kitchen utensils completes the scene. Take a break to walk the wide and shady streets and stroll along the Victorian-era heritage terrace houses. But return to the market in time for some paella, simmering in three large frypans on the footpath and served straight onto your plate.
