Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the second 5 star rating this year, and the third since 1-1-22. I have to admit that a 1 or 2 star rating happens more frequently. One would expect an establishment like The Plough to proudly serve that increasingly rare Ploughman’s Lunch. There...are still a few having it on their menu, generally of poor quality. The chef made one specially for my Bermudan brother in law. The Plough should be ashamed not to put their exceptional Ploughman’s permanently on the menu, and advertise it in big capital letters. It was sooo goood. The ladies had Risotto. This dish disappoints in most restaurants. The Plough’s Risotto was one of those superb rarities. My fish and chips was perhaps not exceptional, but it was certainly delicious. Add the very attentive service. My only conclusion can be 5 out of 5. If the pub doesn’t put Ploughman’s on the card, I’ll be very disappointed. A pub called The Plough should per definition serve a wondrous Ploughman’s.More

Loved our first visit to The Plough - what a treat! Really outstanding food - big bowls of hearty and delicious goulash, beautifully decorated with pea shoots which brought a real zing to the dish. Followed by hilarious Halloween desserts, well presented and delicious too!...Lovely cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and great wine… perfect escape on a miserable, rainy night!More

Not impressed with the sandwich, I was expecting some nice bread for this price, not a couple of pieces of loaf from a supermarket! Drinks were also really expensive, £3.50 for a lime and soda! That is way overpriced. I certainly won't be going back.

Friendly waitress who didn't mind us changing our minds all the time! Two of us decided to share some starters for our main course - because we couldn't resist a sharing camembert! Along with white bait, houmous, babaganoush, pitta bread, olives - perfect. Good wine...and then being able to transfer the bill to the bar and have a drink and a chat before closing. Great!More

Mentioned this last year, but clearly they didn’t take notice. Most menus anywhere do not have much choice for vegetarians, so when I choose a cheese and pickle sandwich, I expect cheese and pickle. This sandwich is pickle with a teaspoonful of grated cheese. The...pickle completely overwhelms the cheese. Do not recommend on this, or the fact that the waitress got my bread order wrong and practically threw it at me whilst looking the other way. This used to be such a lovely lunch stop.More

Stumbled across this wonderful pub , when the weather didn't allow our glamping BBQ. Wow what a find , atmosphere, staff , food , i could not fault a thing ! They sat 6 of us without a booking ( tiny wait ) the staff...were smiling & helpful and the adults all had a gorgeous roast dinner ( I'm really fussy on a roast ) and the kids had sausage & chips & fish chips and ate every bit. We then all decided on waffles for pudding , they were delicious ...... Keep doing what you are doing guys ! Awesome xMore

We decided to hold our wedding reception at the plough and cannot thank them enough. The marquee they supplied was beautifully decorated and the food was exceptional. All our friends and family could not be more complimentary and said it was one of the best...weddings they had attended. Staff and management went above and beyond to make our day perfect.More

We’d booked a table for 4 on a Tuesday lunch and had a fantastic time. Great service and friendly staff. Excellent pints of Spitfire and Harvey’s best bitter too! 2 of us ordered the pork belly which was wonderful. 1 had the steak and ale...pie which also got rave reviews. 1 had the halloumi burger although it apparently would have been even better with some more relish or tomato as it was a bit dry, but still acceptable. We had 2 crème brûlées which were lovely and the mango cheesecake was good, as was the ice cream. Overall a very nice lunchtime experience and we hope to return again soon.More

A very nice friendly Pub. The food was well cooked and tasty My Family and I sat outside in the garden because it was a very hot sunny day. Be very careful with some of the wooden benches they do move up and down and...can be very uncomfortable. The staff are very welcoming and Polite. The food I found was rather expensive for Fish and chips but I guess prices have spiralled recently. If you are prepared to pay the price its a very good venueMore

What a gem. We came on a really busy bank holiday evening and still the service was great. The food was wonderful, they have a great selection of beers and the staff were all great. Such a find! Risotto is delicious.

Booked an evening meal for eleven family members. Service was slow and when food did arrive, it was only for half the group. After another half an hour, the second part of the food order arrived along with a glass of wine and a starter...intended for the first group. Service needs a real shake up. The manager was apologetic and reduced the bill as we were so appalled by the whole experience.More

Wife and I dropped into the pub for lunch and were very impressed with the warm welcome we received from the bar staff and then the table waiting staff. We arrived before 12.00 and were shown to a seating area and handed the menu which...was extensive. The food was very good, presented well and was excellent value for money. The service throughout was not fussy but attentive, just as we like it. It was a very good experience and we will definitely return again.More
