Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrived mid-day Friday for o'nite B&B stay for two. Had snack lunch plus wines and beer, 3 course gourmet menu dinner, 2 bottles quality wine and coffee. Extensive cold buffet breakfast with hot croissants, plus choice of 3 fresh-cooked dishes. All the food was home-cooked...and delicious. Double garden room small but fully equipped, very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. A real bargain at total bill of £190.More

Visit with my wife and adult daughter. A very good dinning experience. Menu - well balanced and with adventure. Wine List - carefully put together, good value and quality wines. Ambiance - Country pub with a clean line makeover, comfortable and clean. Food - well...cooked and presented, good portion sizes. Staff - friendly, well trained. Floor manager - excellent, friendly, efficient, there to help. Pricing - competitive and good value. Toilets - clean and fully stocked. Car Parking - large car park. Faults - none really, we tried 3 different, starters, mains and puddings, beers and red and white wines, all well presented at correct temperatures. We visited in recommendation from a friend, had a lovely early evening dinning experience and will re-visit in the future.More

We came here after a 10 mile walk on a hot day. What a great little pub. The food looked great and by the amount of people eating must have been good. We all had the Fish Finger sandwich with tartare sauce. Washed down with...a pint of local beer it must have been the greatest FF sandwich I have ever had. Crisp batter and steaming juicy fish on a rustic soft multigrain bread. Top notch. Not a bad price at £8 either. Can't wait to come back.More

Probably my fault, I tried to make polite conversation with the landlord; and got back lots of snide comments, even taking my voice off at one point. Not the first time he's been like this with me (and others have told me of similar experiences...they've had) but it is the last. Its a pity as his young staff are very good and the foods ok and the location superb. Don't know if he has problems but he shouldn't really be taking them out on his customers. Thank God we have The Litton locally where the service, food and ambience are all excellentMore

In the area for a short break and did the usual search for lunches out. The Ring O Bells came up and very glad it did. Nice homely place and once it filled up had a ‘buzzy’ atmosphere. The food was 1st class and the...lunch menu excellent value. Only one word of warning as it says on the website, the owners run this place themselves and they multi task so don’t go here expecting to be in and out jig time. Go with the expectation of having long leisurely meal in a nice environment and you won’t be disappointed.More

We were staying at the hotel B&B so decided to eat in the restaurant. When we arrived the landlord showed us to our table at 7.30 pm. We placed our orders for starter and mains and eagerly awaited our food as we had read the...food was really good. However, our starters did not arrive until 8.35, my wife had potted crab and brown shrimp in a kilner jar which had so much chilli in it she said it was painful to eat (she can tolerate spicy food so this was very unusual). She had to leave most of it. I had red pepper and tomato soup and again this was so spicy I had to leave it. When the waiter collected out plates we expressed that we hadn’t enjoyed the starters but received no response. 1 hour and 40 minutes after our order had been taken we received our main courses. We both had the lamb and gnocchi, the lamb was slightly rare for our liking but we realise that is just a personal choice. However, the lamb was sat on a bed of some sort of pickled cabbage which tasted horrible. The only other vegetables on the plate were 3 very small carrots and a pea purée. We had to ask for clean cutlery between starter and mains. As we were extremely tired after travelling all day we decided not to have a dessert due to the long wait for our other courses. We went to pay for our meal only to find a service charge of over 10% had been added on the meal and our drinks despite the service being terrible. We politely asked that this be removed as we were not satisfied. The landlord was standing nearby but did not query why we were not happy with the service.More

Visited the Ring O Bells after a nice walk with friends in the area. Landlord was very welcoming and the food was superb. I would have no problem recommending this lovely pub to freinds and family. It is situated in a fantastic little village.

We happened upon this pub after a day out at Cheddar. It’s a perfect country pub, in a gorgeous location - the garden is so quiet - no cars to be heard. Our food was outstanding, excellent quality and really reasonably priced. My vegan meal...was probably one of the best meals I’ve had in quite a while. Everyone else really enjoyed theirs too. The presentation was really pretty too. I liked that they have a map by the bar with the locations that all their food and produce comes from. We’ll absolutely be back soon!More

We were a family of four visiting the Ring of Bells for a Sunday Roast and sadly we were thoroughly disappointed. Firstly the pub was cold, cold enough for us and several other diners to keep coats on. The roast chicken £17 although tender was...dreadfully small, the lamb was so tough it came home with us for the dogs to eat. The belly pork was the best, however the vegetable mix was poor and insufficient for 4 people, cauliflower hard. Finally there was a 10% service charge on the bill with no indication from the landlord that this was being added, would suggest other customers watch out for this! We choose a different pub for Sunday roasts each week and value for money, this was the most disappointing for many, many Sundays.More

We had a wonderful dinner at the Ring o bells. The menu was really interesting with a number of vegetarian options. The food was delicious and the portions not huge but beautifully presented. We will definitely return.
