Our first night in Kefalos. We walked the seafront but chose to head up the hill for our first evening meal. Although quiet, the background greek music created a nice atmosphere and a friendly waiter quickly acknowledged us. A carafe of house wine was ordered and our main meals..Pork Soulaki and Chicken Souvlaki accompanied by a peppercorn sauce. The food was delish. My pork was cooked in herbs and melted in the mouth, my partner also enjoyed her chicken, special praise for the peppercorn sauce which on trying myself, I confirm. A second half carafe of wine (advertised as dry but changed to medium sweet) we had a quick walk around the village and both agreed a second visit is needed. Here for 14 nights so, so far so good

We ate here after walking around the beautiful old village. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. There was a good choice on the menu, and we opted for 2 starters, a main (which was large!), 1/2 litre of wine, water and a small beer, and it came to a very reasonable €35. The complimentary ice cream with cherries was a lovely way to end the meal. And in these cautious covid-19 times it felt very safe, with the waiters wearing masks at all times. Highly recommended.

Well what can you say, excellent food, great atmosphere, superb views and great service. Walked up from our hotel for our first visit, but not great walking back down, when it’s dark and you’ve had a few beers and a carafe of wine. For our second visit, we emailed the restaurant in the morning, asked them to reserve a table with a view and if they could collect us from our hotel. They duly obliged and also dropped us back at our hotel when we were ready to leave. Would highly recommend that you visit this restaurant when in Kos.

Our Friends live on the island and suggested we go here for an evening meal. We were a little late and the restaurant was very quiet. The staff did make us feel welcome though even though there were six of us and offered drinks straight away and took our food order. As it was so quiet we didn't have to wait long and delicious food soon arrived. Obviously, this was an impromptu evening meal but we were pleasantly surprised at the friendly service and generous and tasty food

Visited Mistrali as it was recommended by a local and safe to say it did not disappoint. The food is fantastic and the views from the Terrace are absolutely stunning!! Topped off with fantastic service and dishes which are great value for money, we have already returned and will be back again. The beef steak in particular is fabulous value for money and always cooked to perfection. An absolute must if you are around the area. An absolute gem!!

The restaurant offers a lovely clifftop view of the surrounding coastlines and neighbouring islands. Staff were genuinely warm and service was prompt. They were able to cater for our allergies and vegetarian requirements with generously portioned dishes using the freshest local produce. The quality of the steak was the best I've eaten in a long while - tender and perfectly cooked medium rare with homemade fresh fries. The bill was very reasonable for the generous servings and fresh produce.

Popped in for lunch and was amazed. The lady and man that greeted and served us were very warm, welcoming and friendly. Ordered a round of drinks, prawn saganaki, grated zucchini fritters, large beans and a greek salad. All perfectly seasoned, prepared, presented and the taste was unreal. All cost less than €30 and left us satisfied. Definitely heading back before the end of our holiday for dinner. Superb.

This place was a bit of a disappointment because of the way we were treated. The waiter correctly assumed we were tourists but tried to take advantage of the situation, insisting that we buy bottled water, telling us that the local water was "bad." Since this island of Kos is the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, it's fair to say that he was interested in clean water and safe food. Quite disappointing that the native son of Kos would in effect be at odds with this restaurant centuries later. Since every other restaurant on Kos that we visited gave us safe water, I can only assume that Maistrali must have old pipes that should be replaced between the main pipes and their restaurant. Perhaps any potential customers should ask them if they wash their salads with bottled water before serving customers. I'd like to think that this was a renegade waiter that told us this, but I don't know, perhaps it's restaurant policy. In any event, I think it's fair to say that Hippocrates would be extremely disappointed and the restaurant should reconsider these sales pitches. The food though was certainly edible.

Dear Customer, First of all please be informed that we take the safety of our customers really seriously and without making any single exception, thus whether our customer is considered a tourist or local native this does not differentiate anything. It is not common to offer tab water to our customers otherwise this would not be included in our menu as an item to be purchased, the usual battle of water as we all know. Referring parallel to history and specifically to our Hippocrates, please allow us to know better what his core believes were and even how we til today respectively managed to follow those including the ones referred. On regards now of the tragic and false assumption that our restaurant’s water is unsafe due to old pipes, we would like to mention here that our restaurant has opened in 2016 thus it belongs to the relatively new businesses which of course could not open its doors to the customers unless they were first and strictly certified by the Greek authorities (Relevant ISO protocols). Dear customer your commend does not only offend us but also the whole ISO mechanism. At last you should be thankful to our waiter for trying to be as polite as possible but not, as all show, in explaining clearly that day’s situation. Due to maintenance work at that day, the bar’s water was eliminated. Even if that water elimination was not the case, we would still not proceed to serving any tap water for avoiding any potential risks - not only for health reasons but also for triggering water-flashes when that was considered inappropriate from the technicians. The only fair assumption we would make is that if Hippocrates had the relevant admin rights, he would certainly revoke comment-access to people spreading unsustainable rumors against restaurants. Thus said, from our Hippocrates side, we call a disappointment the stated from you commend as this is stricly identified as completely wrong, false, and not part of today’s reality. Regards The Maistrali team

Visited early afternoon and were immediately welcomed by a friendly lady who was happy for us to pick a table of our choosing. The restaurant was reasonably busy with a steady flow of people coming and going. Opted to sit outside and take in the view and watch the world go by, drinks order taken in good time and happy for us to take more time to choose from the extensive menu. We had the mixed grill for 2, a pizza, garlic bread and some meatballs for a family of four, and honestly it was lovely and all the dishes were good sized portions. If anything we over ordered but we always do when we get a good feel for a place as we can't help ourselves. The above and two rounds of drinks was 85 euros which we felt was good value and we were never rushed at any point. We met two other members of staff who were also very nice. Left happy to walk off the mythos and take in the views. If you're in Kefalos by chance or design, you will not go wrong here, highly recommended.

My husband and I stopped here spontaneously when we were quad- biking around the island. We weren’t disappointed as the food was superb! I had the moussaka and salad which was beyond delicious. The views were great and the lady who served us seemed so genuinely happy to be there. I really wanted to try the desserts but the main course was so deliciously filling. I would really recommend this place.

We visited this restaurant during our stay in Kefalos. I sent an email to the restaurant the day before asking to book a table. I never received a reply so we just went anyway and had no trouble getting in. I did actually receive an email reply later that night after we had been, apologising that they hadn’t seen my email earlier. The setting is excellent with some fantastic views over Kefalos. Food was good but my only criticism is that it wasn’t that hot. We were sat some way from the main kitchen area so maybe that contributed to the food not being hot when it was served. To be fair it was an issue I found with other restaurants so maybe it’s just a thing in Greece that the food is only served warm, not hot. It did not particularly spoil our experience and we enjoyed the food. Prices are a bit higher than other restaurants so you are probably paying for the view! Overall I would recommend.

Popped in for lunch after walking up from Yiannis the bea keeper appartments. It was so good i visited again the next day after a walk to Kata beach- the thought of a glass of their delicious dry white wine spurred me on! The fishermans (seafood) pasta was absolutely delicious, the best meal i ate all week on my holiday. The beef steak was ok but not the best. The menu is large and covers everything from starters, snacks, traditional dishes and international favourites. Staff are wonderfully welcoming and the sea view very nice if you sit on the outdoor terrace.

Visited this place early in a 12-day holiday to Kefalos with friends. We’ve been trying other restaurants in the area since then but none have matched the experience of Maistrali. We dined here for the third time last night. The views over Kefalos bay from the restaurant are stunning, but this hasn’t inflated prices. The staff are friendly, welcoming, attentive and helpful. But the food also shines. As a group of six, we’ve managed to work our way through most of the menu and can confidently say every dish was well presented and delicious. The kitchen here seems adept at taking simple ingredients, cooking and seasoning them perfectly, and truly elevating them. The mixed grill I shared last night of chicken, pork, lamb, meatballs, and village sausage showcased their mastery of the grill. My friends enjoyed swordfish, stuffed peppers, souvlaki, and a baked pasta dish with equal gusto. The desserts are also heavenly. This place has made our holiday and we’ll be visiting again on our final night as a testament to the quality of the food, service and overall experience. Thanks to the Maistrali team!

We were stopping on Kefalos beach, had a walk up to the village early afternoon, and ate here after hearing it was great. Food was excellent, well portioned but what really stood out was the customer service. We asked an employee to call us a taxi to get us back down the hill, as it was dark and the road is poorly lit. Instead, he jumped into his car and drove us back to our hotel. I tried to give him some cash which he refused, so left it in his car. Views are amazing, food is amazing, people are amazing.

The most amazing place for food in Kefalos! Amazing views, even better food and wine. We ordered the special pizza, hummus, fries and Caesar salad and all were absolutely delicious. Very large portions and very reasonable prices. Immaculately clean and the decor is lovely. Real family feel and very attentive service, they can’t do enough for you. They even gave us a free desert which was gorgeous. Will be back.
