Seven of us had Sunday lunch inside (too hot to eat on the patio). Delicious fried camembert starters, lovely thin-crust pizzas, good lamb curry, excellent salmon trout, tender and juicy steak, lovely vegeterian burger. The vegetables accompanying the meals were roasted and really delicious. The only disappointment was the chocolate lava cake which was too much cake and very little... More

Had dinner here the first night we stayed at the hotel. Spingbook carpachio as starter and the Lambcurry and chicken pirripirri as main. The starter was quite good and so was the curry. The chicken was quite dry and overspiced, so not so good! But we had also breakfast here twcie and they was very nice. The Tulbagh Special and... More

Fantastic place to have a meal when visiting Tulbagh - breakfast, lunch or dinner!! We went here twice over the weekend and was never disappointed! Service, food and portions were great. Fantastic value for money. I can highly recommend the fillet steak, hake and the chocolate fondant for dessert. True small town hospitality and certainly a place not to be... More

Many thanks for your generous review. We invest in a lot of staff training, and aim to provide a level of customer service that we would hope to experience ourselves. We involve our staff in menu planning and we go out and pick the local fruit on the farms together. It's cherry season now, and peaches, apricots and prunes on... More

The restaurant is inside and on the Patio of the Tulbagh Hotel, and is on one of the main streets of the town. The check tiled tables were in good condition and the linen, glasses and cutlery were too. We looked out onto the road as we sat in the shade of a large tree and it was pleasant to... More

Dear Mervyn many thanks for your review. The complimentary amuse-bouche was beetroot hummus. It has now been changed to homemade tapenade served with seeded crackers. Very pleased you both enjoyed the remainder of your meal. We are fortunate to have considerable support from locals, as well as visitors to Tulbagh. Kind regards Alasdair More

We went to The Olive Terrace on two occasions over a long weekend, once for dinner, and once for a coffee on the terrace and we were really impressed. Dinner was great, the carpaccio is highly recommended as a starter. Service was friendly and attentive and the mix of old world and contemporary atmosphere makes for a wonderful dining experience.... Walking into the ding room was an eye-pleasing experience. Solid wooden furniture, warm colors, the tables beautifully set; the fireplace well-lit - we felt welcome and at home. The wine list, while not that extensive, offered a very satisfying range of wines from good to excellent quality. we decided on a wonderful 2012 Shiraz from the Rijks wine cellar. The... More

We chose this restaurant after looking at the reviews of other restaurants in Tulbagh and after also having a great dinner at the same place a year before. My wife had the chicken pie and I chose a good steak. Chicken pie was fresh and home / farm style made and a generous portion for the price. Steak was cooked... More

Our steaks are aged and come from a local butchery, as does the vast majority of our fresh produce, including vegetables from the charitable Tulbagh Community Garden project.
