Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Four of us and a dog were welcomed by the friendly owners and enjoyed a varied selection of meals all of which were of excellent quality. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the host a font of knowledge about the local area and beyond. Superb...local beers added to the experience and made it a thoroughly enjoyable evening.More

It is hard to find fresh vegetables on the menu of many eating places. It is hard to find nourishing food travelling. It is hard to find such a place with B&B. The plough has it all. Mine Host David and Sarah made us comfortable...and entertained us with some wonderful fresh and handmade food for several night whilst we stayed there. From breakfast to dinner we were not disappointed. The lamb is recommended and the full breakfast. Don't forget the porridge creamy and tasty. One other excellent point the place always was fresh, no cooking smells or mess, a fine place for a home from home.More

Had Sunday lunch here, a lovely little family run place, very welcoming, good drink options for those driving (which you don’t see enough of) topped by some tasty food, the wife had the small beef Sunday lunch and I had the pie, neither of us...could manage a pud. Highly recommendMore

Lovely last Friday night at the Plough, before travelling home again. Good haggis starter, and main dishes of the pie and burger really substantial , tasty and the burger was made freshly on site. Nice to see an Affogato on the menu too and made...with nice ice cream too. Nice setting dog and owner friendly! Thanks for a nice eveningMore

Such a beautiful place to stay, socialize and eat. The bedroom was super comfortable and the heated towel rail in the bathroom was the cherry on top! Like a home away from home... I'll come back for sure!

We had been down in the Scottish Borders for almost a week, eating out 90% of the time, before it was time to for our booking at the Plough in Leitholm. Our welcome was warm and friendly from the owner (Happy Birthday to him!) as...well as the staff and customers, but the aromas coming from the kitchen were fabulous and, with the very warm weather, invoked fond memories of Italy. The menu on Thursdays is quite short, but each dish - the locals told us - is lovingly cooked to perfection. Our limited experience certainly confirmed their views. By the time we left we felt that we knew a little bit about most people there, as well as their dogs! We were also very pleasantly full and enjoyed every morsel. The whole experience immediately made the Plough our #1 of the holiday. We commend it wholeheartedly to you.More

We stayed nearby and booked a table at opening time. I opted for the burger with bacon, salad and chips, and Allison went for the halloumi burger, both were delicious, the salad having home made dressings which were lovely. The chips were massive and cooked...to perfection. We weren’t able to try desserts as we were full but I’m sure they’d be lovely. We did have lattes afterwards which were good. Would definitely revisit and recommend to others.More

No meal out is cheap these days but The Plough has a good menu, reasonably priced. Good value for money.
