The rooms are a little tired for the price although adequate. I was disappointed to find there was no wardrobe, just a small cupboard with an iron and ironing board in with a small rail. Not suitable for dresses. There was a safe in the...cupboard too but that was broken. Due to an Internet mast that had caught fire days before our visit we had no internet at all in the hotel and all the tv channels were pixelated and noisy. All the staff were pleasant and helpful, the food was good as was the service. But sadly I do feel that the prices don’t reflect the amenities offered.More

Disappointed with the Sunday lunch. On the menu it says creamy mash which is my favourite, I was genuinely gutted as it was the lumpiest mash I’ve ever tasted with zero flavour. My meat was almost cold and the veg didn’t do anything for me...either - no flavour, again. Yorkshire pudding was great and so was my partners beef in fairness to them. Staff did no check backs, could hear their personal conversations right next to our table and one member of staff was shouting down to the other end of the bar to order a pint before 12:30. All in all, wouldn’t return for food. Pint was good. Could be amazing with a few tweaks as decor and general keeping of the place is great.More

rooms are decent and the food is good. The breakfast is self service now for the basics. What let the hotel down is staff overstretch and very poor WiFi connectivity. It was a busy night and the staff were shorthanded - they were pleasant and...friendly and working hard but the queues to order drinks were long and slow to be dealt with. The wi if in the rooms is really non existent and very patchy in part of the restaurant. So not a good place if you need to work from here or send urgent emails. The explanation about lacking fibre connectivity may be true but the hotel could invest in satellite connectivity given its size and popularity.More

Fantastic 2 night stay in a very spacious family room, with separate sleeping areas, meaning our 5 year old could get to sleep more easily. Delicious breakfast and evening meal. Super friendly staff. Only slight negative is our room was very hot and would benefit...from a fan. Would definitely stay again and would 100% recommend! Thank you for a lovely stay.More

Stayed for 3 nights in family room with 2 adults, 2 teens and a dog, room was very nice, clean and comfortable, breakfast was excellent, we ate in the bar all three nights, service was really good, and the freshly prepared food was fantastic. Portions...were on the large side, pizzas were superb. The location just under the hill is awesome. The staff were very helpful and pleasant gave us a very warm welcome. Oscar really looked after us. If I had a small issue, it would be that the WiFi was non-existent and a nespresso machine in the room would have been welcome. We will come back and stay again and will look out for their other hotels.More

Pizza was delicious, amazing sticky toffee pud! staff worked flat out and were really friendly, lovely atmosphere but is expensive I feel , example £14 for a salad with Halloumi.

Really enjoyed our stay. Great friendly and Covid secure check in. Really nice accommodation, so convenient for Roseberry Topping and a lovely village close to Great Ayton. We had wine, snacks (the loaded fries with a nacho like topping were particularly good) and also I...had a starter (pate) - small yet tasty and my husband had the burger -which he said was nice rather than special. Breakfast on the B and B deal is good although the coffee is filter so we paid extra for a posh coffee- a capuccino :-). The rooms are nice, comfy beds, good toiletries, really clean and we had a good night's sleep. If you keep the windows open you will hear some traffic noise in the mornings and the birds might keep you awake but it's the sounbd of the country. I'd stay again. Wi-fi and phone signals are not great so if you need to work or get a signal you might need to go to the next village along.More

Lovely pub. Was well needed after our walk. Had pork Sunday dinner and it was lovely. Expensive but well worth the money.

Hi, it does have an outdoor seating area at the rear. I'm not sure if it has heaters I'm afraid.

Yes, dogs are welcome all evening I believe as both times we've been in the evening people have had their dogs with them.
