Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Holidaying in the area. What a very pleasant surprise! Stumbled on the Murray Arms during a walk around Dalton and decided to check out the menu and booked a table for the same night! Booked for 5.30, and it was already very busy. The very...authentic Thai Cuisine is proof of why at 5.30 on a Saturday night the place was packed for both diners and take-aways! Stunning food, lovely staff, absolute gem of a place!More

A fantastic meal with excellent service! We were on holiday for a couple of days near Lockerbie and visited the restaurant for a wonderful Valentine’s meal. The food was delicious and the service was great. One of the best Thai meals we’ve ever had. We...can highly recommend the platter for 2 and heaven in the sea - I’ve never had anything like this before and it was fantastic!More

We were actually there for a take away. After the eight mile journey back home the food was still hot and delicious. All in recycle containers

Fantastic takeaway food. This little gem has never disappointed. We’ve been eating at the Thai Orchid for about 20 years and the standards are consistently high.

Food great but service from new waitress was awful. All diners were getting wrong orders and she did not listen to what we wanted . Tried three different nights and still sane waitress. One guy had the firm up to his mouth and she took...the plate away to another table. Really miss the food but cannot go back. My friends say the same. Such a shame . Waited a long time and it wasn’t busy. Maybe staff training would help. Maybe don’t try and do takeaway and table service together . It doesn’t work with the new server.More

We visited The Thai Orchid last week whilst on holiday in Scotland. This restaurant is a hidden gem off the beaten track. Don't be put off by the exterior as it does seem a little bit odd, but once you enter it is really wonderful....The service was impeccable, nothing too much trouble, very efficient and attentive in the bar and restaurant. Our meals were absolutely superb, and we just wish this restaurant was in Liverpool!!More

Disappointing, used to go there allot when they done the buffet and had a few takeaways , its decent food but wouldn’t rush back, the platter for 2 is way over priced for what you get. Service was poor and wasn’t really that busy. Nearly...finished the mains before we got our rices , Got 2 different bills with 2 different prices , waited ages on our drinks. And still waiting on my satay sauce. The woman behind the bar attitude was shocking . Was not friendly at all. Food ok service shocking .More

Went with my wife for a nice romantic meal, we didn’t know what to expect as it was our first time. We had a sharing platter for starter and couldn’t complain, it came out quite quick and it was well decorated, hand carved flowers (out...of carrots) were featured on the plate, didn’t expect this at all we felt as if it was quite fancy for a small little restaurant. I had the crying tiger (the young waiter recommended it as I wasn’t sure) and it was very good. My wife had a green curry and enjoyed it very much. Throughout the night the staff were super attentive and I noticed some of the staff scanning the room on multiple occasions, don’t get it most other places so was nice to see attentive staff lol. Wasn’t expensive at all for what we got, left with full bellies and a takeway menu; we will most certainly be back. Not often I spend my time writing reviews but I think this place deserves some credit after reading some of the previous ones! Only thing I’d pick up on is it does feel a bit claustrophobic as the tables are quite close together so wasn’t the romantic atmosphere we hoped for but was still quite enjoyable.More

Came here whilst staying away for work. Don’t understand any of the bad reviews at all. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, service was great and sold Guinness! Would definitely come back again

Arrived for our booking (supposed to be a romantic surprise for my husband) to be "greeted" by a rude member of staff behind the bar, who couldn't even be bothered to look up at me. She finally asked for my name, then informed me that...they'd tried to contact me as they hadn't taken a note of the number of guests. The telephone number had come up as invalid, as they'd put the wrong code at the front! She then said we'd have to sit in the bar, despite a pleasant young waiter trelling her that a table in the restaurant was about to be vacated. Most of her conversation with me was done with her back turned! She waved her hand in the direction of some tiny low bar tables and said we could sit over there. No apology, offer of a drink, or even pleasantness. We sat down, waited a few minutes then decided to leave as this was not the romantic meal we'd planned. I told a different young girl behind the bar that we were leaving and she was very apologetic. An apology and some manners would have gone a long way. A wasted 20 mile round trip. To be avoided and won't be back. Ended up having a lovely meal at The Swan in Dumfries. Staff and food there were lovely.More

My partner and I ordered an online dinner from Thai orchard, however the app kept saying it was being cooked. After around 40 minutes, we contacted them and said it had been sitting there for an hour!!! No thought to contact us and let us...know. However we went to collect and they gave us free prawn crackers ( WHICH WERE DISGUSTING) and NOT a fresh cooked dinner which they SHOULD have offered us. Brough meal home and reheated, this left the chicken dry and rubbery and noodles barely edible, my partner only ate a few bits of his curry and didn't touch the rest of it. Certainly not a great dinner, which is a shame as we have been several times to eat in and thoroughly enjoyed it. WILL DEFINITELY NOT ORDER another takeawayMore
