Went for the Sunday Carvery lunch with a family group of 9. Have to say it was good value for money at £9.95 for a generous and well-cooked lunch. Service was efficient. The meats - beef, pork and turkey joints - were excellent, the beef...More

We came to the Pub on a Saturday afternoon and were in a group of 10 with small children. The staff were very friendly and we had a fantastic meal. Gammon and Egg and the Steak Pie were real treats sat next to the open...More

What a lovely review. Our orangery has been refurbished since your visit - as has the bar. It's now really cosy and a pleasant place to spend family time. Hope to see you all again soon

From the outside, all looks fine. Most of the staff were friendly. However, some needed customer services training. The room was small but acceptable, but noise from the rest of the hotel was prevalent and the rooms were very hot. Mid December and the window...More

I'm a little taken aback by this one to be honest. Our food has a great reputation locally for its quality, portion sizes and value for money. We do have a microwave - just like all eateries - but we certainly don't rely on it....More

Trip was a mixture of business and pleasure. The Chequers is conveniently close to Oxford City Centre and yet situated in a village with all the sights and sounds of a West Oxfordshire Cotswold Village. Our arrival was greeted by a warm, friendly and helpful...More

A decent place to stay a short drive (10 minutes or so) from Oxford in a quiet location near by. The food and service were very good, would stay again.

The Chequers has the look of a classy Cotswolds pub on the outside (despite not being in the Cotswolds - or Oxford as its website name implies) but inside it is a little tired and dingy. Even the driveway to the car park at the...More

Thank you for the review. We were aware that the pub needed a few improvements and I am happy to say that the refurb has been completed. Please look at the photo's I have uploaded - I am sure you'll see the difference.

Went here last night and had a lovely dinner with great service. Nice modern interior with fire; good menu of hearty pub food. We all really enjoyed our meals, with excellent service.

We came based on slightly short sighted reading if good reviews and were quite disappointed. The pub is large with a dedicated restaurant area at the back and a large bar area with more tables at the front. The lack of division of space left...More
