We booked a table at the White Horse to have the birthday meal that my husband missed whilst in lockdown. We immediately felt safe by measures put in place to keep us safe. All seating is in the garden, with a marquee for inclement weather. They have erected a kiosk called the fabulous 'social distance inn' where you order food and drink, then the pub staff bring it out and call you to pick up your order. The tables were very well spaced. The menu has been simplified but with all the usual pub meals available and very reasonable. Food was served in disposable packaging. The atmosphere was relaxed, staff were friendly and yes the food was excellent too. You need only go inside for the toilets. We couldn't fault anything. We had a burger, fish and chips and steak and ale pie. No complaints! Thank you White Horse we would definitely feel safe to come back and really enjoyed our first meal out.

We made a telephone booking on the eat out to help out nights without any issue. The tables are outside or under a marquee and we saw staff cleaning down between sittings. You order food and drinks outside at a kiosk and they call you once they are ready. There are lots of good Covid measures in place - one way system to toilets etc and we felt very safe eating here. Food is served in take out boxes, which is fine for burgers but possibly many people would prefer a plate which could be hot washed? I didn’t mind it though. I was really impressed to see that as well as having a good children’s menu they also offer a veggie children’s choice too. Our child’s meals were also good. My husband had fish and chips which was really lovely - the White horse has always done a great fish and chips! I had the halumi and roasted pepper burger with chips and slaw which was lovely. Meals came quite quickly and there was a lovely atmosphere sitting in the garden. Lots of well behaved dogs sitting by picnic benches. This pub is run by the community so it is a good one to support. There is also a decent community shop attached to the pub and lovely walks by the broads near by.

We've regularly used the White Horse for 25+ years and have always enjoyed the unspoiled atmosphere good food and ales. After all the difficulties the pub and staff faced brought bout by Covid-19 it has really bounced back with a vengeance. A range of very well kept local beers is in evidence as well as outstanding food, all home made and served in decent portions. A gluten intolerant friend was readily catered for as her choices from the menu were freshly cooked to meet her needs. All in all we can't speak too highly of this lovely traditional pub!

Good social distancing in the beer garden with ample of space between tables. Now this pub previously was a regular go to for good pub grub. Why they feel it's now necessary to serve all meals in takeaway boxes with plastic cutlery is very strange. To get your food a member of staff shouts your surname across the garden for you to collect it in a crate and if you want a drink the same happens from a different collection point. You also have to clean your table after eating too. We dined on the "eat out to help out scheme" however even at 50% discount it was well over priced, due to poor quality food.

The lunch was lovely BUT the food took ages to arrive and when it arrived it was beautifully presented but we were not in a 5 star restaurant just a pub. If they ca t present the food in a timely manner they should drop the presentation. Service at the bar was also slow. We won’t go back.

Decided to pop here yesterday for lunch, however we ended up going elsewhere. On arrival all outside tables were occupied except for the marquee (which we didn't think anything of as people are more likely to be enjoying the sun). So we were in the marquee for a minute or so and a female member of staff comes out to say that we can't sit there as it's booked for a private event. Obviously that's fine, but why not put a sign out to say that? They used to put reserved signs on the tables inside so don't know why they didn't do the same in the marquee. Took dogs for a walk and came back approximately 20 mins later but still no tables free (and you can't book them either). Decided not to wait any longer, so we went elsewhere. Maybe a time limit should be introduced on the tables to give other people a chance! Really disappointed as we're local so been here a few times before and always found staff friendly. Plus they allow dogs inside which was always a benefit in the winter.

First I asked for white baguette and got a granary which was fine but I hate that when I ask for something and get opposite, prawn Marie rose baguette was freshly made and had a few chips with it, value was fine. My daughter had halloumi burger and peppers, the halloumi was not a burger just slab of grilled halloumi, bit unimaginative and the peppers were slimy, could have been lovely chargrilled, they were not fresh. I think they came out of a jar which is a shame, they had an odd taste, pickled ?my daughter handed them over to me. She did get a large portion of nice chips, not fantastic value but ok. Homemade cheese cake was very nice but too small a portion, need to be less stingy with portions, still making good mark ups with 2cm bigger piece.I know how much it costs to make a cheesecake so portion size could be better. Overall staff were friendly, did have to ask for dessert, it seemed like once you had ordered main they left you to it. Nice beer garden, very pretty with nice seating.

This was the best meal of a week’s holiday by far. Friendly if not super fast service and both the Steak bavette and the gluten free fish and chips were as good as I’ve ever eaten: two dishes that seem simple but are often disappointing when they arrive; even the chips came into the ‘outstanding’ category. The desserts also got thumbs up all round and the Norfolk Cheese Board was a gourmet meal in itself. The only downside is that they are only open four days a week and only do food Friday to Sunday so we couldn’t go back for seconds.

We visited on Sunday 30th May - a glorious Bank Holiday weekend. Our party of 7 adults and a baby were sat at 2 tables inside, having booked a week earlier. This was the only pub within 5 miles that had availability when I booked but we were not disappointed. The food was very tasty, delivered quickly and with a smile and the call buttons on the tables are an excellent idea. There were a few menu items not available but it didn’t spoil our visit. We will be back.

I’ve enjoyed many great meals at The White Horse when visiting a relative in Acle. My most recent visit was on a Sunday, which meant sampling the pub’s Sunday roasts for the first time. We both ordered the roast pork with a side of cauliflower cheese to share. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were very generous for the reasonable price. The waitress asked if we wanted extra gravy when bringing the food, which was a nice change from having to request it. Another brilliant meal at a very special pub.

We come in regularly now when in the area since finding it one winter after visiting the seals in Horsey. I usually book via email and receive prompt friendly replies. They have a great range of drinks, fabulous food and excellent toilet facilities for families and the disabled. We visited when the eat out to help out scheme was on and the measures they have put in place for social distancing are excellent. These are definitely trying times for pubs and they've adapted really well. We ordered the steak pie, lasagne and chicken casear salad. While the portions were smaller and dishes quite basic they were still delicious. The only complaint would be the caesar salad dressing was mixed in to the whole dish rather than drizzled over the top and it was very strong. We'll definitely be visiting again in the future when hopefully things are more back to 'normal'.

We have been regulars at The White Horse for many years and we’re delighted that the pub has come through the challenges of Covid brilliantly. The atmosphere is friendly and warm; staff are attentive and helpful; the beer is kept well and the food is superb. The menu (all homemade I believe) is varied with great gluten free options. The Sunday lunch was superb today and we would definitely recommend the delicious lemon and ginger posset (with homemade shortbread horse shaped biscuits - a perfect finishing touch).

The staff at this pub were brilliant, and went out of their way to accommodate our large group. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced, and we left feeling we had been treated as well as we could have been. This is a Community Pub/Restaurant and it is clear that the staff want to give the best service possible

Booked in advance, however we were advised on arrival they were very busy, and we could expect a long delay for our food; which was true. When it arrived our flank of beef plates were beautifully presented; reminiscent of nouvelle cuisine in fact. The meat was tender, but not a good flavour, and served with a strange sauce which owed its taste to something very different to beef. We didn't fell like investigating the puddings; but the beer range on offer looked good. Disappointing, and quite expensive, the food here was once e a lot better than this.
