We booked and paid for a home rental, arrived to find out the price has dropped, any recourse?
We have a question and thought we'd post here to invite feedback on how best to proceed. We are in a vacation home rental in Kauai, HI which we booked last year through a reputable listing service based out of Oahu that guarantees the lowest price and that is one of the reasons we chose to go with them. Upon arriving, the local managing agent has a flier for the house out front which lists the rental price 30% below what we are paying. It's a sizable amount and comes as a bit of a shock. Before we booked, the price we paid was the price listed with several different vacation rental agencies. We believe that the price was reduced in the year since we booked. We don't know whether to address this with the local agent here in Kauai or the listing service on Kauai. Has anyone faced this before? We feel penalized for planning and committing ahead of time rather than waiting until the last minute. When it comes to vacation rentals, is it like the airlines that honor price drops, or are we just out of luck? We have paid in full. Do we address this with the local manager (who has been our only contact since arriving) or the Oahu listing agent? Unfortunately, our contract with the listing agent is on our home computer rather than the laptop we have with us. We'd like to know if anyone has experience to offer us on how to proceed with this. Thank you in advance!
