Within Europe airlines

So we plan on cruising out of Rome next summer but I can fly R/T with miles cheaper to AMS or BRU.

We'd visit there and then fly down to Rome R/T. I've been looking at the airline reviews and I must say I am not impressed.

Can someone who travels within Europe regularly give me some adivce on carriers regarding luggage requirements and overall impressions of Brussels Air, Alitalia, Lufthansa and Czech Airlines ? Thanks...Donna

You are talking about a <2hr flight. Reviews are almost irrelevant.

Search Kayak or skyscanner for a flight that meets your timetable & price, do some research yourself on the 2 or 3 candidates to check on baggage policies in case they change the price too much. End of.

I think baggage allowance will be the main issue.

You should consider airlines that have plenty of aircraft and routing options. This would be a second ticket for you and as such could put your trans- atlantic flight at risk, if there was a misconnect. It may be a better Idea to pay the extra and go to Rome on a single ticket.

Remember, advertised cheapie fares probably don't include all taxes and fees. Your bags are probably going to cost you, and you have extended connect time to deal with.

They were planning to stop over in BRU or AMS for a few days . I wouldn't advise the return to AMS/BRU from Rome on the same day unless it was morning arrive / evening leave.

Like others have said, it's only a short flight. Just make sure you are comparing apples-to-apples after taxes, fees and baggage. You might also be interested in what sort of equipment they use. Some airlines might operate smaller planes that are not as comfortable.

If flying to Rome from Amsterdam then you can't really go wrong with KLM. EAsyjet also fly this route but unless you get a really cheap fare (includung the charge for bags) then KLM is the better option.

Most legacy airlines in EU will allow you one piece of luggage at between 20 and 23kg. Above that you will have to pay extra.

I would say that all of the national flag carriers listed provide a better service than US domestic flights
