golf size umbrella

traveling to Scotland and my golf size umbrella won't fit in my checked luggage. Can it be carried onto the plane?

You need to say what airline you are flying with, or just look at their website and see what they say. I've carried golfing umbrellas on a flight before (Qantas)

I have both carried a golf umbrella onto a plane (SAS) and had it put in oversize baggage at the airline's insistence (BA).

Yes - it may rain in Scotland, but umbrellas are not used by the locals, as they tend to end up in the North Sea.

Leave it at home, and buy one as a souvenir if need be.
