Downgraded on BA

Hi all,

I have been "downgraded" from First to business on British airways. If I am honest, the main point it was the use of the Conocrde Room at Heathrow T5; will I be elegible for check in at First class counters, use of the Concorde room, and all the services of the class I paid for ( with airmiles...)

Thanks in advance

Very surprised to hear that. General consensus is that BA don't overbook First unless it is on routes which are notorious for no shows, the West African and Middle Eastern routes being the prime examples.

If you don't mind me asking which route/flight was it?

Thanks Speedbird.

It is a flight to Delhi and, I think, the reason is a change of plane, from 747 to 777....

thanksagain for your answer

I see, a last minute change I assume. That could explain it since the 747s are all 14 seats in F, whereas the 777s has a mix of 12, 13, 14 and 17 depending upon the configuration. (There are only three 17 seat F aircraft in the fleet and they don't operate to India.)

Well, I checked Seatguru and, apparently, there is one 777 with 3 class, not having F; When I booked, both legs were operated by a 747 and now they changed to this 777

It is not really a last minute change i am flying next December...

Do yo know if I will have access to the Concorde room?

thanks again

Oh I see. I thought you were typing from the airport having been downgraded at check-in or some such.

I'd call BA and see if they can put you on a flight with First (assuming your schedule allows it) since they certainly haven't withdrawn it from the DEL route. You should certainly get the miles differential back but you won't be able to access the CCR if you stay in Club World. If it were a downgrade on the day I'd say you could but it isn't.

As there are multiple daily flights to DEL can't you switch to one that does have F?

Hi,

I am wondering what sort of compensation they offered you?

My in-laws were downgraded from Club (business) to prem-economy and BA offered them £200!

They refused as this no way covers the flight cost difference...

Any advise please?

Many thanks

The amount you're entitled to is set out in the EU261 regulations.
