Manchester to Jersey 2012 ??

It seems that BMI Baby no longer offer this route for 2012.

Anyone know why ? It always seemed busy when we used it.

The alternatives seem to be getting fewer and fewer.

Bring back the days when the mighty BA flew the route !!

Flybe here we come !

Just because flights are full, does not mean the airline is making any money.BMI baby is up for sale, along with the rest of the British Midland group. The last group results indicated they lost £38 per passenger,so they wont be around long at that rate.

Here's the press release from the Jersey Airport website:

>> Channel Islands based airline Blue Islands has today announced its intention to operate a daily year-round service to Manchester as from 31 October 2011.

The news comes after low-cost airline bmibaby announced earlier this year that it would be withdrawing its services from Manchester Airport at the end of the year and Jersey services would conclude at the end of October 2011.

fares for the Blue Islands service start from just £45 one way, including all taxes and charges.

Managing Director for Blue Islands, Rob Veron, said, ‘As a local airline, it is important we continue to grow our network for the people of Jersey, extending the number of destinations available with our truly unique ‘welcome difference.’ Passengers based in Manchester can now also benefit from travelling to Jersey without being charged for taking baggage, using a credit or debit card and can make changes to tickets at no cost.’

Jersey Airport Director, Julian Green, added that Blue Islands' decision to offer services to Manchester demonstrates strong confidence in the Jersey market. He said, ‘This is the 8th destination served by Blue Islands from Jersey and we welcome their new service to Manchester. Their daily flights will offer travellers yet more choice on one of Jersey's most important business and leisure routes’.

‘Manchester is a key Northern destination for leisure travel, perfect for football matches, music concerts and shopping! Combined with our no baggage charges, free ticket changes and no credit or debit card charges, Blue Islands now provide a truly unique product to Manchester', concluded Mr Veron.

Flights will depart Jersey at 10:15hrs Monday to Saturday and at 11:40hrs on Sundays.

Flights will return from Manchester at 12:15hrs Monday to Saturday and 13:40hrs on Sundays. <<
