thank you malaysian airlines - no drama from a crisis

recently we flew malaysian airlines lhr to lgk via kuala lumpur. we had some difficulty checking in online before the first flight, but managed the first [longhaul] leg in the end. checked in for the short hop at lhr. we noticed the lady making a bit heavy weather of it, but she said nothing.

when it was time to come home, we were unable to check in on line. we popped in to the airport [it is only a little friendly place] and the lady on the info desk reserved seats for us, but could not check us in.

two hours before our flight we returned to the airport. the young man on the check in desk eventually managed to check us in. at that point, he quietly mentioned that somewhere along the line an error had occurred. 'the names on your tickets must match your passports' he said.

apparently, my husband had put our forenames in the wrong boxes. the young man told us it often happens, it not a problem, and can be fixed. how lovely!

how many times have we read on this forum of people making this mistake? and all the dramas created when it does. ten out of ten for MAS.

Well done MAS for just being sensible and indeed to the guy for using common sense and seeing it was an easy mistake to do, instead of making a song and dance about it.

Excellent customer service...we flew Malaysian to Australia a few years ago, albeit business class, and found flights and service outstanding.

Sounds like they were at their best. Still Manic Redboots would be worth seeing on the ticket!!
