American Airlines just filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.No changes to reservations or frequent flyer programs as yet.

Hmm, thats been on the cards for some time, thanks for the heads up, hopefully they will come out the other end intact like most other US airlines did, which meant AA was fighting an unequal battle for the past few years.

Apparently they are the last one of the big US Airlines to go through this process.

And none should be expected, really. Chapter 11 bankrutcy in America is a financial reorganization. Would be expected to have little impact to the customer.

Now if you're a shareholder or creditor of them it might be a different story....

... or an employee or retiree with benefits. Right off, they will go for cost reductions which means wages and benefits and the collective bargaining agreements with the unions.

You may end up seeing some unhappy AA employees if their contracts get reworked for the worse, but flights should operate normally otherwise.
