Airline preferences?

Hi everyone

Are there any airlines that you prefer or wouldn't recommend? Have had good or bad experiences?

I might be booking via British Airways for the 1st time. How is the London airport for a 5-hour stopover?

I've also been looking at Iberia, Spanair and Tap Portugal for a Madrid-Lisbon flight. Any feedback?

Thank you

British airways are in my opinion one of the best airlines. The service is great, lounges are great. Food and wine are good.

Terminal 5 if its heathrow your having a layover at is good. Lots if good restaurants, lounges and facilities.

Basically you could do a lot worse

I like BA, but then I've never flown on any of the other airlines listed.

If your choice of flights from LHR to MAD is to travel with BA or IB then BA's short haul service is better than IB. Not that IB are awful, or haven't been in my experience, but BA is just that much better.

And IB flights depart from LHR T3, a depressing place when compared to T5.

BA for the long haul routing will be very nice; book World Traveller and you may be offered an inexpensive (paid) upgrade to WT+ which you might like.

Thanks ktown and TravellerPlus!

I'll be flying from Montreal, Canada to Barcelona then a train to Madrid then fly to Lisbon and back to Montreal.

BA is about the best you can do to LHR. Iberia has a pretty bad rep - see airlinequality.com for reviews.

It does depend on your class of travel but of the airlines you list I'd pick BA in every cabin.

Hundreds of BA flights under my belt here across all cabins from domestic to Concorde and rarely a complaint to be had here.

Thanks OP2002, I`m feeling pretty confident about BA now.
