Does Qantas ever have seat sales for travel to Australia in January?

I am planning a trip from Toronto to Melbourne in January 2013 and was wondering when would be a good time to book a flight. I realize it is high season, but the prices are way higher than they are at other times.

Qantas is priced in the middle of the pack, but it is has the quickest routing which makes it more desirable.

high season=high fares.

it's a major holiday time is australia (summer break) so lots are travelling os esp since the $a is so strong.

u may see fares reduce towards the end of jan but definitely no sales for flights mid dec -mid jan.

Also, suscribe to Qantas red email which will update you on any specials whenever they are released.

In the middle of the home page there is a link to suscribe.

That's high season! Can't see a sale (and QF aren't big on sales when they don't need to).

I would book sooner rather than later. Don't wait for fares to go down, because

they most likely won't! ^^

That'll be because it's, err, high season!

If QF is in the middle then you are lucky. From our end they are usually at the top of the heap.

If you could put it off till Feb when school holidays are over not only might you get cheaper fares but accommodation becomes easier to find and less expensive too.

It may not be possible for you, but November also tends to be one of the three low months for travel into and out of Australia (as well as domestically): the others are May and February.

Why don't you try Virgin Australia instead: newer planes than QF and arguably the staff are not surly like so many of the QF staff are.

Or what about looking at a flight to Honolulu and then a cheaper Jetstar flight for Hon-Syd leg?
