Another U.S connection question...

Hi,

Considering a flight to Phoenix (from UK) with a connection at Charlotte Douglas (2.5 hrs), will this be enough?

Also, returning home the connection is much less, generally about 1.5 hrs, is this enough bearing in mind?

You should be fine on the return as there are no customs or immigration formalities. As long as it's booked as one ticket it's just a matter of getting from one gate to the other. Depending on the connecting airport layout, there's a very good possibility you will not even need to reclear security.

Hi VG,

Do you know whether 2.5 hrs will be enough time to get through Charlotte Douglas (so baggage and immigration etc) and ready to catch connecting flight?

Charlotte is a relatively small and easy to navigate airport. 2.5 hours should be plenty.

To minimise any problems try to get a seat near the front of the plane on your first flight and walk quickly to immigration with no rest room visits.

After immigration you will collect bags, clear customs and hand back bags to the airline drop off point just after customs before getting yourself to your departure gate.

The link is a map of the airport which might be useful

The times should be ok as long as your incoming flights are not significantly delayed - as an aside I assume you have your ESTA for entry to the US.

CLT is a nice airport to connect through, though when coming in from the UK, as well as going through immigration and customs, you will also have to clear TSA security after you have dropped your bags off at the bag drop facility. 2.5hrs should be a snap at CLT
