Warning: Beware budgetair, Vayama

IDENTICAL long error messages came up from the "two" companies budgetair and vayama for flight info (gotten, sadly, via Tripadvisor).
Each lists a certain trip at amazingly low fare, then has error message saying can't access the flights, try again later.

Lots of great sounding reviews for all at a website clearly set up by budgetair.
 Fishy!

I don't know of any travel insurance that will cover you when you have failed to get proper travel documents. It's difficult to understand why you would blame LH or Vayama because of problems with your passport.

Tetyana, trip insurance will never cover the purchasers error (yours) in not getting travel documents in order, nor will any but the most expensive travel agency, (who will charge a substantial fee for passport and visa management.)

If you just book through the airline or an ordinary agency without paying extra for visa or passport services, then it's entirely your responsibility to sort it out. Whilst it didn't work out the second time, Vayama were unusual in even letting you have any credit at all for a flight you missed, usually that's entirely lost.

If you aren't able to sort this out yourself (passport requirements) find a specialist that can and pay for the service.

The lesson from this is not that Vayama and LH are terrible organisations, its that you don't know or understand what you are doing and yiu need to pay someone that does to arrange it for you,

I booked a multi-city trip from rome to vienna, vienna to paris, and paris back to rome and was surprised at the low price of the flights. So i paid for it right away and saw on the last page that the month of my return had changed to one month later than when I was coming back. So I called them right away as it had only been 3 minutes and they man on the phone told me that I had booked over 24 hours prior which was not true as I had just booked. then the guy told me that the price of the ticket is more expensive on the date im supposed to return which I then pointed out that it is actually 50 dollars less than what I had just paid. He made me wait on the phone 4 times while speaking to someone since I got upset that he wanted to charge me an extra 340 dollars for flight change and fees. He then got back on the phone with me and told me that Im lucky he found a flight on the day for the same price but I would have to pay 130 dollars for the change and since my tickets are nonrefundable I had no choice. So basically their website error cost me an extra 130 dollars and that is after arguing with them. all in 5 minutes... I don't think I would book with them again

STAY AWAY from Vayama !!!!!! This company has the worst customer service ever. I have purchased 4 tickets thru Kayak.com and still await for my money back after one week! I will NEVER use Kayak again since they use Vayama for reservations.

My story: I purchased 4 tickets, one of which had a typo in the last name. I thought...well, that is an easy fix, right? ..Wrong. I called Vayama and they told me that they could not manually fix the typo, and the only way was to cancel the tickets (ALL of them, not just one!!), wait 5 business days and purchase the tickets again (obviously at a higher rate by then..). The company has one person working, no managers to speak to, and every time you call you get a different answer from the same person!

It took Vayama 5 min to withdraw money from my bank account, yet after a week I still have not gotten my money back - maybe I never will! Stay tuned..

Do not ever use this company..

Kayak direct you to many different companies to book tickets, but why not book directly with the airline?

First of all, it is apparent that you don't know what Kayak.com is. It is a search engine. That's all. You don't purchase through Kayak any more than you purchase through Google when you search for antique watches.

If you had purchased directly from the airline you would have had 24 hours to cancel and rebook your airfares at no charge. You have to be very careful booking airfares. The names have to be correct or it can get quite expensive. You cannot change names on most airline tickets.

So what can you do now? Have you tried talking to the airline about it?

Surely even a slug with one brain cell could work out that if Vayama or the airline wouldn't change the name, you should just buy one new ticket and not use the one with the typo?

Well that's because after taking your money they went and gave it to the airline, in order to get your tickets. They now have to wait for the airline to give the money back to them before they pass it on to you. Had you booked directly with the airline you wouldn't have had this problem, because they would cancel the tickets and then immediately use the credit to get you new ones. Once again an issue with using third parties.

I thought I would pass along my experience dealing with Budgetair.ca. When looking to book 2 round trip tickets from Nadi, Fiji to Honiara, Solomon Islands I found a good price at Budgetair.ca on Solomon Airlines. I initially had a problem due to the fact that my Canadian credit card has a pin number and their system could not deal with it. I ended up calling them and finalized the booking with an agent. I was obviously apprehensive after reading the warnings on here and e-mailed Solomon Airlines who seemed to have my booking in their system. We have just returned from our trip and everything went well - I would not hesitate to deal with Budgetair.ca again.

I made flight reservation on Kayak via Vayama. Disaster. To sum this up:

- it took Vayama 36 hours! to book the flight (it looks like they do things manually)

- they made a mistake in booking... (the departing flight was booked instead of Aug 6, 2013 to May 6, 2014!)

- they did not take responsibility or even apologized, they just issued cancellation/refund as a matter of their policy.

The problem is that the flight I was booking is 2 days from now.

This was my first and definitely the last time I'm dealing with Vayama. Recommend to stay away from this agency.
