phone your insurers and see what it will cost to cover the additional illness, sometimes getting a doctors letter is useful esp if the illness is not likely to re occur

You may have a problem if you want to make certain strokes are covered because you have just had one. There will be questions about what treatment you have had and what mediation you are on.

Most normal travel insurance will cover events like strokes if there is no previous history. If there is, it has to be declared and you may need to go to an agency that specialises in travellers with pre-existing conditions.

Ordinarily they just ask you to declare prior illness and set your premium accordingly. You are covered for re-occurrence of the previous illness, but your policy costs a bit more.

If the bad health is very recent, you may need to wait before buying travel insurance. For example, if you have been in hospital overnight 3 times in the past 6 months even for something like a broken wrist, you may have to wait to buy anything other than a very basic policy.

I have found Age UK to be less expensive for an annual policy than SAGA, but YMMV.

Try www.allclear.com - they have covered some pretty serious conditions for us although at a price. But it is better to be insured than not! Good luck.
