Hey, I'd appreciate any practical input or lateral thinking into this decision for my girlfriend and I. We're on an indefinite journey, been working, volunteering, and travelling by bicycle in SE asia for 8 months. We're planning to maybe go to China from here in Laos (our final entry date for our Chinese visas is less than 2 weeks away) for a month before heading back to North America, or we're heading back to Thailand for 2 weeks then flying out. We want to be in Toronto in August.
In the first case does it make the most sense to fly internationally out of Kunming? or try to find a cheaper local flight to a bigger hub (HK, singapore, BKK?) One way flights from Kunming to Toronto for early August, based on a first pass search, are more expensive than we'd like (~$1250 CAD, plus we have bicycles so we need to filter for airlines with good sports equip policies).
In the second case what are good places to search for flights from Bangkok? I've found flights for about $1000 CAD so far. Any possibility to get a cheaper flight if I wait/look harder/consider a different approach?
Any help is appreciated!
