finnair luggage

i saw a "closed" forum page about problems with this airlline.

after 8 days i got my bag. they are supposed to give some compensation but then you find "all receipts" .. do they think you can get a receipt in Vietnam for a 2 dollar tshirt? i had to buy footwear - $25 on the street or a one hour journey to pay [at least] double in a modern shopping mall wheree you could probably get a receipt - and then you have to trust that the airlline will respond..

incidentally, thought the inflight service was lame but after a few days trying to get some sense regarding my bag, i forgot about the frumpy air stewards

okay - the flight was cheaper but it is not advertised as a no-frills airline

They do need receipts just like any business that requires them for expenses, there's no way they'll just hand over money without proof of purchase.

The other method some airlines use in cases of delayed baggage (it isn't officially lost until it has been missing for 21 days) is to supply preloaded Mastercard or Visa cards and you can spend up to the amount on the card to get toiletries and a change of clothing etc,. This would probably be even less useful in this particular case as the people the OP was buying from probably had no way of processing cards if they can't even give receipts.
