Yes Jet2 are members of ATOL (and ABTA) as per their T&C's but not sure if this is only if you book a package through Jet2 holidays or if it includes flight only as well. Booking with a credit card generally is the best way when booking flights.

As for easyjet flights, not sure of the exact nature they release flights but it appears that some routes are announced quite early where other routes can be announced quite late.

Airlines aren't members of Abta, nor do they need an Atol, although the charters sometimes add a fee for Atol protection. Fights booked direct with an airline usually aren't Atol protected. If you're travelling independently make sure you have the correct insurance cover.

Jet2 holidays are Atol protected, but flight only aren't.

Sound advice that.Pay with a credit card and as long as what you buy costs over £100 you get a refund if the "supplier" defaults. And the credit card company would pay out faster than a claim against an industry bonded association. The situation is not as clear cut when paying by debit card.
