Flying BA to HKG?

I am currently looking at booking a holiday to Hong Kong next November and currently the prices via BA for a package are very good ( I been tracking them for a year since my last visit) . Last time we flew with Cathay, but they don't do packages and the prices through the travel agents are much higher.

I understand that there are new aircraft on the LHR-HKG route.

Any views would be appreciated.

We are not that picky and will be flying economy class but like decent in flight entertainment and edible food, but some of the reviews a terrible.

Many thanks

You book very early, however if the price is right, I would book and be happy.

BA is certainly a good airline. You will always find negative reviews and people being unhappy or ranting about details or wrong expectations.

The food on BA is good and the entertainment system is ok. Both nothing special but good and solid service. One does not fly to experience great food prepared by a master chef.

Think you have reasonable expectation and BA will meet them.

Currently it is A380 shown on the route, but aircraft type can change.

BA is on par with major airlines in economy. CX has better entertainment content overall and probably cleaner toilets. Otherwise, they aren't really different. You will always find folks who write terrible reviews due to one experience.

from experience (10+) to hong kong in a hotel

its cheaper to do it seperately!!

how long are you going for and what prices have you seen

its FAR too early to book a PACKAGE!!!

wait for the special offers to come out

if its a direct flight your wanting sign up to newsletters for cathay BA and virgin

hotels...

ebookers currently have a 20% off code APP20

also look at lastminute.com, hotels.com, and the hotels direct themselves

also TA has offers as well

PS november is OFF PEAK season for hotels/ flights

virgin and emirates has good in flight entertainment

(flew virgin this year and emirates 2 years ago)

Special offers come and go, majority of airlines has two offers in one year

this has been confirmed by a few airlines, the reason being...why they bring special offers out is because certain times of the year

people dont buy flights, so they bring out the offers to push sales

also we're talking a long haul flight here, sales dont normally come out until 364 days before

so the person asking the question has only had a few weeks to look at flights for next nov 2014

Thanks for your responses, the price I have seen is £932.50 for flight and 12 nights accommodation in the Dorsett mongkok was the the Cosmo - if you deduct the cost of the flight which is 650 ish per person then it works out at £50 per room per night. The cheapest I have ever seen this combination is £920 on last minute and at BA you can pay a deposit not the whole lot up front.

I am not a travel agent, but it sounds like a very good price to me. And hotel is nice with good reviews.

Why wait?

That's not how you calculate package breakdown, because you're using retail fare guesstimates, which isn't how fare grids are done by the airline. Going by the above, I'd say the fare is lower and the hotel slightly higher.

And I'm not keen on packages because of heavily restrictive policies, BUT I agree with Phil, it is a fantastic price.

Just be sure you're 100% not going to need changes to dates or anything else for that matter.

Bit of a generalisation to say that CX toilets are cleaner than BAs.

Surely it depends on who has been in there? ;)
