Frankfurt (FRA) Connecting Flights

I will be flying from SEA to FRA and will be landing at 9:00am. I have a connecting flight at 10:10am to Moscow DME. A couple questions:

1) Will i have to collect my baggage and go through customs and then check-in for my connecting flight?

2) If I don't have to collect my luggage, do I even have a realistic chance in making my connection?

Last summer I came back to the US from Kiev, via Frankfurt on Lufthansa. The flight from Kiev was late and despite the best efforts of the airline, I missed the second flight. Lufthansa was simply fantastic. There was a bit of a wait, but when my turn was finished at the counter, I had a boarding pass and assigned seat for the next available flight, my bags were rechecked for the next available flight, I had a hotel voucher and directions to the hotel shuttle, the airline emailed my husband with the new flight info, and they even let me use their phone for two short calls home. They were very professional and helpful. If there are any problems, you will be in good hands with Lufthansa.

Thanks for all the information everybody. My flights are both with Lufthansa so crossing my fingers that it's as easy as going straight to my connecting flight's gate, even if it means sprinting through the terminal.

And while it may seem implausible, I have made a connecting flight in less than 30 minutes (including going through immigration) at Paris CDG because Air France had coordinated everything. We landed at CDG, met by a representative who escorted roughly 25 of us to our connecting flight which included a fast-track straight through immigration. Thankfully, we didn't have to collect our luggage and go through check-in again. So, it's definitely possible!
