ZB874 29th July 2014 flight delay

If you were on this flight that was delayed for eight hours please could you tell me the reason you were given? We were told technical problems but not what they were. We spoke to other passengers and some said they were told weather conditions but , as far as I'm aware other airlines managed to fly from Luton to Palma without any problems. Some people were told that it was a knock on effect from the day before at Gatwick, yet other Monarch flights flew out of Luton before us. Are we entitled yo compensation ?

The easiest thing to do is not to spend time searching for what others might think was the reason for the delay - just submit a claim to Monarch and take it from there.

And Then Monarch will lie to you and tell you that the delay does not fall under EU261.

It is a long and painful process making a claim under EU261 and some have gone down the claim specialist route.

Some go it alone.

PM me if you need to know who I used.

Your choice but I don't see a need to use a no win/no fee business who will take a chunk of any compensation your are entitled - the process might be lengthy and could require a claim in the Small Claims Court but it's relatively straightforward.

TomC97,

You are of course right that a claims firm will take a chunk of your compensation. However in my experience and from the flights I have been involved in and the several dozen people I am in contact with the airlines are doing their best to come up with any excuse possible and indeed lie through their teeth to avoid paying.

This is of course understandable as EU261 is quite contentious however lots of people have not the expertise or indeed the time to understand the lengthy letters the airlines send to avoid paying.

I have a couple from Thomson and I think you would need a law degree to understand them.

Personally I have educated myself somewhat now and would probabyt not use a claims firm again but I fully understand people who do.
