You will be able to confirm it yourself about now.

Why does it matter as long as you get there safely.

3 weeks in Orlando should soon make that 'gutted' feeling disappear.

You mean you actually believed all the "Dreamliner" hype?

At the moment Thomson are down one Boeing 787 after it had to make an unscheduled landing in the Azores following an engine failure.

This plane, just a month old, now needs a replacement engine.

The 767 is tried and tested, it'll get you there so you can enjoy your holiday, and probably on time too.

Thomson aren't the only ones having 787 problems - BA are retaining 767s scheduled for withdrawal to cover for unreliable 787s, Norwegian are leaving people stuck at Los Angeles for 3 days because of unreliable 787s. Now most of the faults are fail-safe ones - instruments show there is a problem which has to be investigated. After several hours and a lot of testing, the engineers find no fault, but by then the crew have run out of duty hours to complete the flight and a fresh crew has to be found, causing more delay.

I would also be disappointed not to fly what seems to be one of the best aircrafts up there (beyond little infancy problems). Well, the B767 is not that bad and certainly far better than any of the Airbus crap machines...

Besides, airlines have to bring you safely from A to B and are not bound by the aircraft type, even if a specific one was advertised...

The engine was repaired, and TUIE is now back in Manchester ready to resume operating.
