Alcohol confiscation at Brunei Airport

Will be flying to London with Royal Brunei in October. Son in UK would love us to bring some Bundy Rum over but worried that if we buy it at Melbourne Airport and ensure that it is in Tamper Free bag it may still be confiscated when transiting through Brunei Airport.

Better off buying it before you leave and packing it in your checked luggage.

Why not just buy it in London?

As long as your alcohol is purchased at duty free at the airport and in a tamper proof bag you can transit it through Brunei ... just check how much you can take into the UK. The duty free store should have the packaging.

You can take 1 litre into the UK without becoming liable for duty.

And I believe duty free Bundy comes as 1.25Lt ... why not give Downtown Duty Free a call and clear it up.

The last time I took Royal Brunei, the plane also stoped in Dubai...so if that's still the case, you also need to check Dubai's regulations.

No problem in Dubai, as you can buy Duty Free alcohol at Dubai airport on departure, transit and arrival.

i think the question is more *will i have to pass security again*

if you do, they may confiscate it from you as it exceeds the 100ml rule

if you DO not have to clear security again you'll be fine

"No problem in Dubai, as you can buy Duty Free alcohol at Dubai airport on departure, transit and arrival"

But the question is, can one _transit_ Dubai Airport with Duty Free purchased in a prior airport?

You can't on the way back, that's for sure. Liquids bought OS won't get through the second security check at Singapore or Dubai or wherever you transit. general opinion on line says it is the same in the reverse direction.

Anyway, airport duty free in Oz is rotten prices.

You are better to buy at a cheap outlet and pack it well inside checked luggage. I am talking 2 ziplocs and then wrapped in clothes or protected with that wine packing cardboard.
