Constant Late Departure

We are flying on TOM2744 Manchester to Hereklion in September and have been watching punctuality on Flight Radar. Every week it has flown departure has been late,( today 53 mins, average about 38 mins now), does anyone know if there is an underlying problem. The plane arrives from either Rhodes or Kos at about 2am giving a 6hr turnround. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Lots of possibiiities - the ATC slot it actually has may not relate too well to the advertised departure time; the departure gate it needs to use may be occupied earlier by another plane which is itself late, the crew may arrive back at Manchester so late off their previous day's flight that by the time they've had their statutory rest period a delay is inevitable; the maintenance and cleaning staff can't do all the essential work in the time allowed overnight; shortage of baggage loaders; passengers dawdling over breakfast or starting their holiday early in the bar so not boarding on time; checked-in passengers delayed in security. I could go on.

Today the arrivals from both Rhodes and Kos were early, but TOM2744 is shown as 53 minutes late leaving. Here it's important to be sure you're comparing the same times. Advertised departure time is when the doors close and the plane starts being pushed back from the gate, but some websites show the actual time the wheels left the ground - and in between they have to uncouple the tug that does the pushing, taxi to the start of the runway (giving way to other traffic as instructed) and starting takeoff. At some airports (famously JFK) this can take anything up to an hour!

It appears to have made up time on the way as landing is shown as just 27 minutes late.

There is a slight delay on just about every flight I take (around 15 minutes to half an hour or so, this is wheels up not push back). An average of 38 minutes is fairly regular.

The plane often makes up time en route and the schedules reflect this.

Did you check the average arrival times?

Who cares about the departure time being late. What is the on-time arrival record?

Hi all, thanks for replys, didn't factor in all other things after doors actually close. Average arrival delay is only 9 mins with some flights arriving early. Still aiming to be at checkin for 5.30, get rid of luggage then holiday begins.
