Greek islands cruise?

Hi

Can anyone recommend a cruise around the Greek islands for next year please? We had hoped that Thomson may do one as they have this year, but I can't find one for 2012. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi

We went on the Pearls of the Aegean cruise in May on the Thomson's Spirit. According to the Brochure, Thomson's Destiny will cover this trip in 2012. The only port that is different is Santorini instead of Mykonos. We had a great time but regretted not staying on board and carrying on up the coast to include Slovenia and Venice. One week wasn't enough. The Destiny is the sister ship of the Spririt and I believe identical. The advantage of the smaller ships is that they manage to dock rather than having to be tendered out to shore all the time (although it is tender to Santorini). Hope you have a lovely time.

Thanks, that sounds good. Are there any other cruise lines doing this sort of itinerary - we can't find any.

There are quite a few that do the Greek Islands just depends on budget & how much time you have

Some may do other Countries as well

Pullmantur Cruises & windstar do Greece/Turkey

Others may start or end in Venice , Rome or Barcelona

Here's one port intensive itinerary that might be of interest if you are open to Turkey as well: www.vacationstogo.com/fastdeal.cfm?deal=24181

Do you have an approximate date and length of cruise in mind?

Most of the mainstream lines (I'm thinking about the ones that mainly cater to U.S. residents) are hampered in the Cyclades and vicinity because their ships are much too big for the most interesting ports.

Oceania Cruises are sometimes considered a stepping stone between mainstream and luxury cruising. New-in-2011 vessel Marina (rated 5.5 stars out of 6) will be doing some outstanding Greek island cruises in 2012.

22 April - 2 May 2012, 10 nights, Venice(overnight) to Athens visiting Dubrovnik, Kotor, Corfu, Monemvasia, Crete, Santorini, Kusadasi, with visits to both Delos (UNESCO heritage site) in the morning and Myknonos in the afternoon.

12 October 10 night Istanbul to Athens stops Lesbos, Myknoos, Delos, Kusadasi, Santorini, Marmaris, Antalya, Rhodes, Crete, Athens overnight.

Also, a similar 7 night itinerary 1 November, Istanbul to Athens.

Swan Hellenic Minerva has a 14 night voyage Athens to Istanbul 29 August 2012 - Inclusive of many things, including shore excursions. Not inexpensive, but arguably, value for money.
