Price of drinks on Independence of the Sea

Hi,

My husband and I are going on this cruise ship soon, is the $39 per day per person worth it for beer and house wine package? What sort of prices are the drinks on board outside of this offer? Bottles of wine etc

Thank you very much

There are loads of posts with the drinks menus and prices here: boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php…

Basically: beers range from about $4.50-$8US plus 15% gratuity, mixed drinks (G&T, rum/coke, etc) around $6.25-$9US or so plus 15% gratuity (depends on quality of booze) and specialty or frozen concoctions range from around $6.25-$12US plus 15% gratuity, depending on quality of booze, mixers, etc.

Enjoy - great ship!

The prices of drinks are the same across the fleet devonmaid1950. So, info for Independence would be same for Adventure. As woudl the link to the RCI boards on CruiseCritic. All the best.

See post #23. Price break down is there. Prices are the low/high prices and approx as it varies based on specific booze - whether Tanqueray or Bombay or other brands, what type beer, what wine and so forth. Wine by the glass will be anywhere from $6-$15US plus 15% gratuity depending on which wine. The link to RCIs board will take you to the CruiseCritic boards where you can find photos of the drinks lists, some helpful folks have copied in the entire drinks lists/prices over time and so on.

Drinks packages and whether they are "worth it" are totally subjective. To us, the premium booze package is completely worth it as we enjoy our drinks and beers throughout the day and night, and we are night owls - often up till after 2am in the casino or dance club, etc. We also like knowing exactly what our drinks bill will be upfront. Along with the convenience of not having to sign a slip every time we got a drink. We are not wine drinkers generally, so the lousy wine by the glass selection made no difference to us. We also carried a load of $1US bills with us for additional tips to bartenders who took great care of us along the way. Yes, the 15% gratuity is built in to the price of the package, however sometimes there are those whose service goes above and beyond - those we tip extra either in cash or we ask for the slip in order to add a tip and sign.

Others find the drinks packages not worth it in the slightest, either because they don't drink much, or what they drink is not included or they like wine more than other cocktails. It varies from person to person, etc. Keep in mind a few things about the packages: the same package must be purchased by every person over 21 in the stateroom, unless there is a doctors note for why one can't drink and they must be purchased for the entire cruise, on the first day (or pre-bought) - if they are bought later on in the cruise, they are not prorated for days missed, you still would pay for the entire cruise (so i bouht on day 2 of a 7 day cruise, you would still be paying for all 7 days), and yes, you can use onboard credit to purchase if you have any.

All the best.
