red sea magic January 2013

Hello, can anyone recommend this cruise? Is the weather good in January.

Was thinking of doing the Petra and Cairo trips and resting other days because they sound tiring.

Any information welcome. Thank you Karen.

Did this cruise last year. The weather was sunny, but there was a chill if you were in the shade and definitely needed jacket or cardi for an evening on outside deck (where there is entertainment some nights.)

We made the mistake of not packing enough warm clothing to do Petra or the Cairo trip,

We did the desert trip to Wadi Rum, which was amazing, jeeps, beduoin tent camp and the place where Lawrence of Arabia, was stationed....very unusual day out, but despite the bright sunshine it was very cold. Only had sandals on my feet and they froze.

If you don't do the trips then the ports are dissappointing to say the least, and a couple are really very ugly.

We also did a trip to Hurgarda where we sailed to an Island and it was warm enough to snorkel.

The ship is a little old, but staff and entertainment and the general friendliness more than made up for it.

Would definitely book a Thomson Cruise again.

With no extra tips (unless you want to) it was great value, with very reasonable drinks prices.

Weve booked this cruise, departing on 3rd Jan 2013, did a nile cruise last January and the weather was perfect, but a bit chilly at night, hoping this will be similar temps as its great for doing the excursions, not to hot, hope you enjoy it as much as we plan too

Hi,

Did this cruise in March 13 on the Celebration. Ship is small and spotlessly clean and can honestly say the staff were the best we've encountered, always smiling and could not do enough. With a limited choice of restaurants the choices are also limited, but food was good, particularly breakfast buffet. Ship spotlessly clean. The trips to Petra and Cairo are very very long tiring days, certainly glad to get back to the ship and shower - but awesome once you get there and well worth the cost and effort. You need very comforatble shoes and plenty of bottled water, its very hot and very dry (buy the water on the coach - cheaper then the ship).
