Port excursions on Zaandam

Is it relatively safe, cost effective and reliable to hire a taxi to do all the land excursions from Buenos Aires to Vancouver on the Holland ship Zaandam and is the ship tidy?

I think you would need to do some research for each port to determine the best way to sightsee. With approx. a dozen ports between S.A. and Central America, your question is a quite general.

Suggest looking at the forums here on TA for each port and see if others have asked about tours/taxis for port days. Language, integrity of the taxi driver and quality of the tour would be a few of my concerns with depending on taxis for tours, esp. if you're planning on walking off the ship and finding a driver.

You might also find it helpful to read through the ports of call message boards on Cruise Critic: boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5

Also, the roll call for that sailing will likely provide some ideas for port exploration. Some people might be arranging small private tours and looking for others to join in: boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php…

Regarding the ship - fannish, a DE here, should be able to provide good feedback as she cruises with HAL, but in addition, you might find these reviews helpful: cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/…
