Americans, beware of ncl

We took a cruise on December 14th, 2013 leaving from New-York City, for 9 nights. We must advise people that people were bathing with pants and tops with long sleeves in the pool. After having complained, the day after, we were told by the Purser's Dest, that the Policy of NCL , is to accept such a practice. We do not find it hygienic at all, as it is written to take a shower before bathing. NCL Policy even accept people with clothes, ( pants and tops with long sleeves) in the HOT TUB!! If you want to bath in a clean, hygienic waters, avoid this Cruise Line at all coast. The food is very bad also, and this free style is everything with rude people in the Grand Café. The decoration of the ship is ugly enough. The only very good points are the nice cabins with good mattresses. We have photos of what we experienced at the pool that we will not post.........

Have cruised on NCL a number of times and on different ships and have NEVER seen this practice of persons swimming in the pool fully clothed. Looks like you need to jump over to another cruise line in the future and good luck finding the perfect ship/cruise.

Could it have been for religious reasons that people (women?) were swimming fully clothed?

Welcome to the forum, Louisa007!

I rarely see anyone at a ship pool looking like they just stepped out of the shower. I am sure there are plenty of dirty people wearing dirty bathing suits. You have a false sense of security if you think bathing suits are germ free.

If the cruise was going somewhere hot, like the Caribbean, maybe they didn't want to get sunburnt. Anyway, the warning is to Americans, so it won't apply to a Brit like me.

.... not to mention that some people look much better in clothes than they do in a bikini.

We were told by NCL that the Policy of NCL is to accept without problems people bathing full clothing for religious reasons at the Purser'desk. So yes it is.

We were told by NCL that yes they accept that people bath full clothing for religions beliefs. It is not hard to find other Cruise Lines. We had taken many Royal Carribean, Celebrity, Holland America, Cunard, Homes Lines, Pacific & Orient, etc.... always satisfied with those Cruise Lines.

We have taken so far 21 cruises and it is easy to find a good Cruise Line, such as Cunard, Celebrity, Royal Carribean, Homes Lines, Pacific & Orient, Holland America, etc...it was the first time that such a thing happened.
