European grand tour from Amsterdam to Bucharest....15 day trip....need as info ...
You can't get from Amsterdam to Buchrest in 15 days. Do you mean Budapest? Get info from a river cruise specialist, a travel agent. Or, if you are a AAA member, go to one of their travel agents. You get a Member Benefit there which is cash and sometimes (like next month) there are periods when, if you book then, you get a double member benefit. All this about pricing is not as important as getting the right cruise so that your holiday is the best it can be. Hotels are all different, ocean cruises and resorts vary and so do river cruises. Travel agents know the differences. Good luck.
Thank you for your advice...It is Budapest ..Have you taken this voyage...any other tips financial or otherwise....
Yes, have done this cruise with the best (imho) which is uniworld.com
In Budapest we stayed a few extra days after our cruise ,(not Viking)
Book your own hotel much cheaper than the cruise lines offer.
Not sure of your budget but we found a good deal at the Millenium Court Apt by Marriott ..location was great for walking around Pest a short walk to the Grand Hall market other shops & restaurants close by
Most cruise lines stop in the same ports basically offer the same walking tours & opt tours
If you can spend extra time at either end of the cruise it is worth while to do so
did u opt for Praque tour at the end of the cruise
Prague is very popular. If you don't do the complete package with the cruise line then be sure that you have a transfer to (or from) Prague in place first that is satisfactory to you. You can't break that out of the cruise company's package in my experience.
Also, in my experience (with uniworld) and reading what others state on this board about Scenic, Viking, Avalon I do not believe that each company does the same shore ex. The best companies take you for 'inside' visits on the included shore ex and some of these are actually exclusive so you can't buy that experience at any price. Also folks who do Viking usually report a choice of just one AM walking tour lasting maybe two hours. That means that inside visits to the places of interest do not happen and with a choice there is tour content option considering your interests. Of course one can double back on their own for a closer look but then you are seeing something without expert commentary which is what makes it come alive.
Since you can afford a river cruise why not get the full experience. You get what you pay for is still in effect in life you know so don't cheat yourself out of what you really want. Good luck.
