Deleting inactive new users after 3 month

To make fake reviews you can use a user only once, so if you are in that business you must create every month hundreds of empty new accounts......

TA should delete accounts with zero activity after 3 month or less.

So at least we will see only fake reviews by new user, easy to avoid reading...

Asking a confirmation by email should also be a standard practice since the birth of Internet but it is still missing on TA. :(

Hi there,

So everyone's first review is fake? So people who choose not to send in additional reviews are also fake?

I think you will find TA picks up on people creating new accounts over and over quite quickly with detection tools that are a part of Internet technology. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but not to warrant deleting people's reviews and accounts as a matter of course.

BTW, verification emails are sent out often when a review is submitted. No response? No reviews. :)

Many people only have one major holiday a year so will only submit one review a year while a clever faker will hide his fake reviews amongst a few other 'genuine' reviews to avoid appearing a one post wonder.

I have nothing against 1 review user, I was thinking of ZERO activity accounts, no login, no posts, no nothing.

There must be a lot of them waiting to be used one time...

And I did not get a confirmation email when creating my account or my first reviews...

"no login, no posts, no nothing."

Hi Maurizio04;

So if a person joins TA, submits a review, and doesn't return to TA until AFTER their next vacation (maybe a year later) that's enough of a reason for TA to "delete" their account, in your opinion ?

MANY people who use TA don't even realise that there are forums, travel articles, restaurants, etc, etc, etc.

Sorry, but to summarily delete a new user’s account, per your suggestion / OP, is akin to using a bomb to kill a fly. Way over the top.

Best Regards

What is the problem with zero activity accounts? What would deleting them solve?

Some people will create an account so they can save to Saved trips, subscribe to news letters and watch forum threads long before they actually go on vacation.

I don't think most fakers create large stockpiles of unused userids - they just create them as they need them. Those that are a bit more clever would use the new ids to submit a few innocuous reviews and forum posts to create a 'history' before submitting a fake review.
