It has been just over a year since the following thread about the reply button in every post was posted. I think starting a new thread would save these current comments from being buried at post #50.
The forums that I follow contain threads by OPs who think the X separate posts they are making are being directed to X individual posters. Sometimes they name the poster they are replying to, usually they do not. Usually the posts make no sense to anyone but the OP as they are usually general in nature. Sometimes, they are a bit embarrassing, as the OP says one honest thing to one poster and another honest thing to another poster.
The effect on the regulars is to have to ignore them because they don't make sense. Not sure of the effect on the OP. The effect of future readers who search Google or in-house and find such threads must be one of puzzlement. Such threads simply go off the tracks for making sense.
Mentioning how the reply buttons don't/do work in a reply along with advice seems awkward. Even though the thread has lost its continuity.
Threads need only one reply button: desk top, tablet or phone. Really, they need only one reply button. There is too much misuse of them, IMO. Certainly have seen an increase since this was raised a year ago.
It would be great if TA would do something about this now. Making one reply button could only improve the forum threads.
