Explain, please: "Post count: Destination | 69 Off-topic"

Something new? I see this on lists of forum members posts. What does it mean, please? Mine just says "Post count: Destination", but others may see something else. www.tripadvisor.com/members-forums/hoogo Thanks in advance.

It doesn't explain why the post count for destination forums is not showing or why they consider the OTC forum worthy of its own count but there is no count for the other 'Beyond destination' forums including Support and HUMTAB.

Just another of TA's little mysteries

This is not new. Post counts for OTC has been shown in profiles for years. OTC forum posts do not count in your total forum posts.

The "Beyond destinations" forums (like Air Travel, Support, HUMTAB, & Train Travel) are all considered "destination" forums for the purpose of counting forum contributions.

It's always been a bit of a mystery to me why some people place so much importance on post count. But I do agree that OTC posts should be counted separately; I don't know about now, but it used to be that some people participated only on the OTC and not on the destination forums.

As has been said the OTC post count has always been shown and it is a very nice forum to go and play on now and again

Yes, I noticed that recently and wondered if it's a glitch. I remember you used to be able to see it, it looks rather confusing now with no number beside the word Destination.

Hmmm, I don't think it means Off Topic Chatter forum, I'm showing a count of 10 and have never posted there????

It has to be a count for something else.

Debbie,

The OTC post count is indeed posts on the OTC forum. Maybe you never posted there but TA staff moved threads where you have posted to the OTC. They don't do it often but will do it if posted on a destination forum and it is reported as "incorrect forum" and the thread is off-topic.
