Closed Threads: Technical Question

Lately I have noticed that when a thread is closed, sometimes a member is still able to comment well after. For example, look at the thread below. It was closed at 03:35, yet almost two hours later a member was able to comment.

I'm just wondering how this is possible.

I have noticed the same thing, but it only seems to be with certain members. I know that I was typing a reply to a question one time, and the thread was closed before I was done typing. My post would not go through and it was just seconds after the thread was closed.

Hi mykel67;

This is a known glitch within the system, and has to do with the multiple servers that TA uses to operate the website, worldwide.

If you area able to post, you have found a server that has not yet synchronized itself with the others.

Best Regards

Thanks for the information, RescueTeam. It's a shame TA can't synchronize their servers, as the 'optics' of this aren't very good. There is the potential for certain members to use this glitch to their advantage, I think.

I don't see how anyone could exploit this.

No-one knows when a thread is about to be closed, which server will handle their post request, or the delay in synchronization.

If that is the case, mymsman, then there's a heck of a coincidence taking place on certain forums.

I clicked on your link, mykel67 and the thread looks fully open to me?

That's probably due to different *locations*, as described in post #2.

Who closes a thread and why ? Does the closing mean that original question has been answered ?

Just curious. Thanks.

Yes, it was reopened after I sent a message to TA support inquiring about its closure.
