Legitimacy of a vacation rental

How do I know for sure if the place I have reserved is a legitimate business and I am not going to be disappointed after paying for my full accommodations up-front?

Hi marryinginbelize;

Vacation Rentals are paid advertisements on TripAdvisor's sister sites, FlipKey & Holiday Lettings.

Just like ads in a newspaper, a certain amount of caution should be exercised. Other users have suggested paying the deposit by credit card or PayPal, which gives you some protection, if there is a problem.

Best Regards

The VR listing may show a Peace of Mind badge which protects you up to $10,000.
