Request a property and write a review at the same time

Hi all,

Based on member requests, it is now possible for you to request a place to be added to TripAdvisor AND write your review at the same time.

In other words, when you request a place be listed via this page:

https://www.tripadvisor.com/UserReview

You will notice that after you request the place be added, you have the option to add a review of it. This will save you having to wait to write your review in order for the property to be listed.

Your review will go through the same review moderation process as before, this just gives you a chance to write it at the same time you request a new listing.

I'm very glad this idea has been implemented. Very nice.

For anyone coming across this announcement, have your review written in a Word document, check it, spell check it, get it the way you want it, then sleep on it before submitting this double-duty request/review. I think it will be doubly important to have a copy of the review on file with this new process.

Good improvement. Jeanine

Just an FYI. You had mentioned in an earlier post that one could use the green add a place button to add a new place on the TA iPhone app. That button is missing

To repro, I type in a weird name and city in the write a review box and get different behavior on the app vs the mobile site on the iPhone

I see that button if I use the iPhone browser pointing to the TA mobile site but not with the latest iPhone TA app.

Then what happens to the review if the property is not accepted?

What happens if the person is duplicating a listing already up - Joe's Diner is listed with reviews, but a member is now adding Joes Diner with a review?

It will be convenient if everything goes smoothly but I can see problems on the horizon.

9. Re: Request a property and write a review at the same time

I just added a new listing request (YermilovCentre of Modern Art in Kharkiv, Ukraine) through .com, but I saw no option to leave a review. In fact there was nothing new I noticed.

.

The idea is good, and I don't think the option to add a review increases the possibility of duplications. Such possibility exists (and sadly works in full) even now, so I don't see how reviews enhance it.

We'll see how it works though - will it increase the time for the property to be listed or the review to appear etc...

Ok, I just checked with the team in charge of this feature and it looks like at the last second, this feature was pushed back a week. So it is slated to go live NEXT Monday evening (Jan 20). Thanks for trying this Cora and pointing this out!

So apologies for the very advanced notice-- although still good to give a heads up that this is coming next week.

Cheers,

Jeanine
