Why did I have to change my log in information?

I was told that, to complete my reply to a post, I had to log in to Facebook, Google Plus or to my TA account.

I tried several ways. I do think that TA had my old email address so they cannot send me a new password.

So, I had to re-join TA; in doing so, a new name (Voyaging became Voyaging2)

As a result, my posts, photos, messages, et al, have disappeared along with my name, Voyaging.

How can I contact TA to restore my information including my original name?

Thank you.

The Heartbleed problem recently caused TA to ask everyone to change their password. I didn't have to do it until I tried to access my account settings. But I have a current email address. Once I had changed my password, I simply went in again and changed it back to the original. You will still have to sign in when you try to access your account settings, so maybe update your email address.

Posting on Destination Forums is not the way to go. This forum is. Use this link:

Type your message in the text box.

Don't message a TA_mod. They may not be around and the above message will take you to the moderator on duty.

Hi Voyaging / Voyaging2;

For future reference, the “TripAdvisor Support” forum is available for general "How To" questions and assistance using the TripAdvisor site, and to report technical problems.

Hope you get this worked out, Voyaging 1 & 2 ;-)

It startled me when you appeared under your 'new' name!

Oh, I'm so glad you're still around. I thought something dire had happened and your spouse or grandson had taken over your name. Always found your postings to be helpful so I think they should find a way to resolve this quickly. = )

Hi Voyaging2,

I have moved this topic to TripAdvisor Support Forum, and bumped it back up to the top in hopes that TA_Jeanine might see it. I am unable to determine why you cannot log in under your original account after changing your password. Have you submitted a problem report through the Help Center?

If I can locate a report in our system, I will do what I can to escalate it to the appropriate Support Team for expedited review and action. Please note that our offices are closed today -- we reduce staff to a skeleton crew on US Federal holidays (Memorial Day), so it is unlikely that you will be contacted before tomorrow.

I apologize for your frustration in this matter, and appreciate your patience in the interim.

Kind regards,

Jane

Former self? Been looking for him for many years, but will settle if TA can "merge" me with my clone. :)

Thank you PNWF and Jane, appreciate the support and the help.
