I am trying to plan a vacation to St. Maarten & there are no direct flights from the Houston area.. There are connecting flights that start at about $800 but bring you to NJ first, then back down to St. Maarten. Dallas has flights that are less expensive, but 4 hours away from me. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions??
Maybe try connecting through San Juan or Miami?

You can specify which airports (or distance from your home/destination airport) and oher factors (number of stops) and can look at a calendar of dates to see which is cheapest. If there aren't any nonstop flights, you likely will be looking at going through a hub or mini-hub. Besides MIA and SJU mentioned above, other airports in the south where you are likely to have connection options are ATL (Delta) and Charlotte (USairways).
