You are going to the Grand Canyon National Park, right? The park is at the South Rim. Much closer to Vegas is the 'west rim' which is not as scenic, much more expensive, and not part of the National Park system. This link is a good deal to GCNP.....

If you do a search on the Vegas forum you should find lots of information about this topic.

The usual suggestion is to rent a car and go to the south rim. Spend a night at one of the lodges along the rim. Drive back to Vegas the next day.

The west rim is closer, but apparently not as scenic (I've only ever been to the south rim).

If at all possible I'd rent the car and go to the south rim. Stop at Hoover Dam on the way there.

The hotels in Vegas usually have some activity brochures. Some that we've seen in the past were for day trips to the Grand Canyon but they were pricey, mind you we've not been to Vegas in over 5 years now.

Also, consider renting a vehicle and just driving out yourself. Have not actually done this ourselves, but it if you 2+ people, it might be more economical.

Takes about 5 hrs each way from Las Vegas to the south rim, via Kingman and Williams.

So an overnight stop is a good idea.

If you leave early morning, you can be there by lunch time ... spend the whole afternoon at the south rim, then maybe stop at Williams for the night.

On the way back, you could stop at Laughlin, Nevada for a nice lunch on the Colorado River at one of the casinos. We stayed at the Golden Nugget there and enjoyed it.

Then stop at Hoover Dam for a tour inside the dam.

That'll fill two days.

They're all over the place and are pretty much a commodity. I'd go with the cheapest that has a decent safety record, not sure how you'd find that out though.

I'd also suggest signing up for Groupon and looking for a daily deal from Vegas. If one comes up, it could save you some decent cash.
