booking hotels through internet

Hi all, wondering if any of you have heard of Destinia.com.....

We are wanting to book a hotel in Bali and the pricing we are getting through all the usual sites ie Agoda,Expedia,booking.com etc seem to be about 100 percent more expensive than the price destinia is offering . Also when trying to book through other sites it is only letting us book a max of two people where as destinia is letting us state 2 adults and 2 children, so i,m nervous about booking then arriving to find that the room is only for two people. they seem like a big outfit.... am i safe to book through them, Any advice much appreciated. Ruth.

If expedia is 100% more than this company you ask about- I would be suspicious.

I've never heard of them, but I too would be suspicious. Have you done a google and TA search for the company?

Why not try the hotels own website?

I booked 2 hotels in Bali directly with the hotel, as they were cheaper than any website, and I only had to pay a deposit rather than the full cost.

I have used Destinia many times and they are very reliable. Somehow they usually manage to have much cheaper rates than the others

I got scammed by them.

Paid for the hotel in Rome, Italy.

Got the voucher for the hotel a few minutes later.

Unfortunately, when I got to the hotel, the receptionist had no reservation whatsoever under my name, and had never heard of the company.

Google fraud in spanish, "estafa", and destinia.com for more victims.

One couple paid for a room in a hotel which had been closed for several years!

I never got my money back from them.

A person answering your question with only this ONE post is not necessarily advice I'd follow! Do some more research!

This is my latest email to destinia.com, with all the details.

Let potential customers judge if they want to do business with this company.

As I said, the Spanish forums are full of horror stories about this Spanish company.

You will find more than one post.

There are many victims

Dear XXX,

I am still waiting for my money.

On the 28th of July, I paid on your website, destinia.com, 140.25 euros for a three night stay at the Santa Costanza hotel in Rome, Italy, from the 28th to the 30th of July.

Upon my arrival at the hotel, the receptionist informed me that the hotel, Santa Costanza, had never heard of your company and has never had any contact with you.

They had no reservations whatsoever under my name.

A reservation could have been done directly on the hotel's website in a few minutes for a lower price than I paid through your website.

I was forced to pay the hotel another 117.18 euros for my stay there.

I have read numerous reviews from other customers on the Internet who lived the same experience with your company, which seems to be little more than a scam.

I want my 140.25 euros back, since you have provided to me no service whatsoever.
