Global work & Travle Co

Hi Guys,

Has anyone ever travelled through Global Work & Travel Co before? I just booked a 6 week volunteer trip to Fiji. How was your experience with Global Work & Travel?

Hey guys,

Just to confirm a few issues with GWAT:

1. Read the small print!

The 'job opportunity' they advertise can be as poor as forwarding you job adverts; it does NOT include getting interviews, getting jobs, or even getting them in the places you would like to go to. If you want to be in BC, they forward you info on a job in Toronto, and you say no, according to their Ts & Cs they have completed their obligations - end of story

SOURCE - Read the small print on their contracts

2. Flights

Again read the Ts & Cs. When you sign up for their programs you enter into a contract to buy flights from them. They are a complete rip-off! The standard mark-up can be anywhere between $600 & $1,000, and they send you on the cheapest route they can find. Think you are flying to LA with Qantas and onward to Vancouver with an American airline? Think again. Trying a 40 hour routing via Taipei with a huge stopover!

SOURCE - Read the small print on their contracts, and through personal experience after speaking with their 'travel team'

3. Staff

The staff can be exceedingly rude, given the contract you have signed is pretty water-tight, and the staff know this. They are highly demanding when it comes to getting payments, and even though they may tell you that the program balance can be paid months after signing up, they usually phone within a week or two demand the whole amount, and telling you the file cannot progress until it is paid. Some of the staff are more pleasant, but staff turnover seems to be high. I guess it has something to do with the fact they are currently being taken to court for failing to pay their staff properly.
