Can I take food in my luggage on Eurostar?

Hi all

I'm spending Christmas in France (live in UK) and will be travelling down from London the day before xmas eve. I want to minimise the amount of food shopping required when I arrive (and also have some xmas faves that I can only buy in the UK) so was planning to travel with a fairly large bag of food on the Eurostar.

Is this likely to cause any problems? I will not be carrying any alcohol or meat - but may want to bring some cheeses along with snacks, veggie food etc. Knowing me, I'll overdo it so it could fill a small suitcase!

Should this be OK?

There are no restrictions on what food items you can put in your bag.

Whenever I travel back to the UK on Eurostar from Brussels I try and carry as much Belgian beer and pate that I can carry (in bags of course!) and I've never had any problems.

Although I am confused by this rule:

"So, if you've got more than five units of alcohol on your person, we may confiscate some or all of the alcoholic drinks in question"

I think that rule must apply once in a blue moon!
