Best way to travel 2 weeks in December?

This December, I plan on traveling a bit after my study abroad with some friends...we were thinking Amsterdam/Prague/Vienna/Budapest? Or Norway/Ireland/Scotland? Any ideas/tips/recommendations? We're a bit lost about which to pick depending on weather and costs...

It would be great if you could help!!

"after study abroad" - so what would be your starting point and where will you need to be to catch your flights back home (California??)?

If you choose Norway/Ireland/Scotland, you will travel the longest distances on aircraft, not on trains.

Which kind of weather do you want? In December snow will be unlikely in the mentioned locations apart from (northern) Norway.

Which kinds of activities or experiences are you looking for? This is the train travel forum, so is your objective to ride the most interesting trains in Europe?

If your "2 weeks in December" after your study abroad means travelling around Christmas and New Year, be prepared for timetable changes (some lines may have no service at all on certain days, especially 25 December and 1 January), also be prepared for crowds as the great Christmas migration of people to friends and family around Europe takes place.
